Why do you think ntcham isn't capable of playing every game? Surely out of our midfield options he is the one who we should be looking at and saying" this guy is our midfield lynchpin now. 21, talented, athletic, strong" the team should be being built around him now. As for broony he's the heart of the team. If he's fit he's playing, end of.

Suppose what I'm trying to say is I don't think any of these 2 should be rotated just for the sake of rotating at this point. Mcginn would be a good addition to the squad, but not at 4m. That's too much of a chunk of our summer budget and that, imo, needs to be spent strengthening elsewhere at this point in time.

Will not happen on Brendan’s watch.

Lustig, Gamboa and ralston are RB

Hayes and Miller can cover LB

Got 5 CB plus we seem to play 3 at the back with Tierney and Forrest as wingbacks so doubt any additions at the back tbh

The names you mention there are fragile at best even before going into the 5 cbs, literally none of whom instill any confidence in me. Surely he has to be looking at the defence before reinforcing what is, arguably, already the strongest area of the team

Mate I agree with everything you and JC anton have said and like most of us on here I whole heartedly agree with you but this goes back to last summer and once we got to the group stage of the CL we had a week before the window closed and we made a move for Denayer and Jagileka we didn’t get either so we go and sign Compper and Hendry in the January which makes me think he is happy with what he has but one thing is for sure we are not I really did feel every CB except Ajer and Hendry would move on this summer and so far it’s only Erik and he theoretically has been away since January. I still think we will sell Boyata as he won’t sign a new deal if there is interest in the back of his performances at the WC group stages

How much do we really want him?

There was a bit of haggling with Sinky, but in the last few years when we want someone, it's all pretty quiet until the deal is done.
If we don't think hes worth the fee, will he really change things or improve us? I'd rather not * 3m and invest in top dollar who will improve us.

We need game changers, not foot soldiers.

As a set of central midfielders that's got quite a nice balance.

A thought suddenly occurred to me after a wee gander at a hibs board

Petrie isnt daft, and I would like to think we are nowhere near as daft to pay 4m for player with half a year on a contract. Especially one who was playing their trade in the second tier last season

Im starting to think a deal is in the works but it will be announced as a non disclosure fee, with the fee being around 2/ 2.5 and petrie saving face

at least thats the only rational explanation I can think of to quantify this madness.

either way Id love this deal to get done or disappear asap

Definitely need another LB Hayes can hardly play his own position since signing, and Miller is never a LB either even as cover.

We'll most likely be playing 3 at the back though, we'll have guys who can cover Tierney - Hayes, McGregor even McGinn once he signs. We actually need a right-back more as if Forrest is out we have nobody else who really can play the right wing-back position unless we play McGregor there or Gamboa or Ralson but Gamboa never makes the bench and Ralston isnt really starting material - Morgan and Johnston don't have the engine and defensive discipline and ability Forrest has. Also Boyata is really solid playing the left of the back 3 so we don't need to worry much about who plays on the left compared to the right where Lustig and Hendry who play there are weaker.

It is sad when you agree with something like this. He is a very well we will make do with what is here when it comes to defence.

Roberts was the only one with that potential and he wasn’t our player. Musonda had the talent but clearly the wrong attitude.

My point is we’ve been looking for a Champions League level Coutinho type since Lennon and we still haven’t had one. And that’s came from both Lennon and Rodgers themselves.

I think we need a goalkeeper first personally but I bore myself with that opinion.

We’ve actually got 2 options for each centre half position in a 3, aye we could be doing with a better quality one but Rodgers clearly likes Ajer, Lustig and Boyata and is going to persevere with Hendry, Jozo and Marv.

He doesn't have the same hype as a Sinclair or Roberts signing maybe that player will come in later in the window , But you need the right balance in any squad ,steel mixed with craft.

As seen with Musonda he might have had ability but was a lightweight.

If we are waiting till January what’s the point in going after him in the first place and why prioritise him over a defender

    We aren't waiting till January..

We've put 2 bids in in a week. It's only them putting a price on him that we deem too much....that is dragging it on..

It isn't just us either as no other suitors of his have came in with concrete offers at all..

This is a transfer that is nailed on to happen..

I think your overstating his importance. He has been good and has shown at times what he is capable of, but for me he needs to start stringing performances together and adding more goals to his game. Granted, it was his first season and he may go on to be a very important player for us.

Having received £7m for Armstrong, he needs to be replaced and so to spend in the region of £2m-£4m wouldnt be too strenous on the transfer kitty.

his family is celtic through and through you wonder why we are willing to pay anything, pick him up end of january for free its not as if hes going to oust any of our midfielders

a bit strange for celtic to be throwing cash about * nilly, not really in our nature, i think also that we are talking publically about him were not buying anyone else for the team, no right back no center back unless one or 2 get sold

tbf our squad is pretty strong, i think we all would like better defenders but unless some are off i dont see it and the mcginn thing i really am suprised at the amount of money we have offered for a player with 1 year in his contract to run down, the only thing we could be afraid of is if the english come in with a big bid ? but would he move ? hibs cant force him can they ?
