Hibs probably just canny risk playing him incase he gets injured. Imagine him playing and ending up with a bad 3-6 month injury, they'd lose £1million over it and also have no hope of Scott Allan who they probably need.

Still might not happen for weeks although the longer it goes on probably the less money Hibs will get as we know they are desperate so they really should accept an offer from us soon.

Allan will probably help them in Europe as well, now they are through you'd think they'd get the deal done so they have Allan for the next round.

HIBS are holding out for a £3.5million fee for John McGinn.

Sunsport understands that’s the figure the Easter Road club are looking for after two failed Celtic bids for the 23-year-old Scotland midfielder.

The second of those bids — understood to be £1.75m — is described as “well short” of Hibs’ valuation.

They feel Scott Brown went between the clubs for £4.5m 11 years ago — and McGinn has played more first-team games and has more Scotland caps than Brown had when he moved.

It’s also understood English clubs from the Premier League and the Championship have contacted Hibs regarding McGinn.

There have been no bids but the English transfer deadline is on August 9.

And Hibs believe there may be concrete interest from down south before that.

McGinn was left out of their Europa League win against Faroese side NSI Runavik.

Hibs are holding out for around £4million for prize asset John McGinn.

McGinn was left out of the Hibs side that faced NSI Runavik in the Europa League first qualifying, first leg tie at Easter Road tonight fuelling speculation that the 23 year-old is set to clinch a deal with his boyhood heroes Celtic.

Record Sport understands that the capital club booted a second bid of £1.75 million from Celtic on Wednesday after having an initial offer of £1.5 million rebuffed.

It is further understood that the Edinburgh men feel that McGinn has been undervalued by the Hoops.

Neil Lennon's side are prepared to play hardball over any potential transfer especially when current Hoops skipper Scott Brown left Hibs for Glasgow in a £4.4 million deal between the two sides 11 years ago.

However the Scottish champions may have to move smartly if they want to land their man as Record Sport can also confirm that English Premier League sides and English Championship teams are also keeping tabs on the Scotland internationalist position.

The English transfer window closes on August 9 with McGinn's former club St Mirren due 33 per cent of any fee.

Speaking after his side came through comfortable 6-1 winners against Runavik tonight, Lennon said of McGinn's omission : "His thigh was heavily strapped yesterday.

"I know there will be a lot of conspiracy theories flying about which is fine, but I am in control of this.

"He wasn't 100 per cent, and he is not 100 per cent mentally either."

Hibs need to be careful they will not get £2m out of any prize money and they are hoping someone down south comes in. Not worth anywhere near what Ntcham was or even close to it. Said before no more that a few million, people say we got £7m for Armstrong but difference is he was proven at every level of football Celtic have played at since he signed.

Exactly, we don't need him just now.,what we need is two solid defenders. A few embarrasing defeats in Europe last season and it's the defence that needs to be bolstered and organised.

This will come to fruition in the next few days.

My info is that he had a chat with Lenny a couple of days back about his state of mind to play last night. He was more than willing to do so, but decided that he would be happy to run his. Contract down until January and sign a pre contract.

Lenny has passed this info to Petrie and his exclusion was to allow a dialogue to begin in earnest.

He will be at Parkhead within a week.

So predictable the Hun and probably the record would run with interest from England.. they don’t don’t even need to be fed it by Hibs..anything to try and unsettle has always been the MSM narrative with us..

    He’ll be here...

Derby, West Ham and Leeds are the teams allegedly interested in him who have been named by different sources.
At the moment anything other than our two confirmed bids is speculation. Even the asking price is speculation at the moment.
I think Hibs will deal at £3m with Allan as part of the deal in some kind of way. And i think that will be good value for both parties unless the english teams come in with bigger money.

No way would I be paying 3 million & Allan for McGinn with a year left.

1.5 & Allan is more like it.

English clubs can come in all they want but if the player wants to come here , what can they do.
Celtic can just say right there's your 2.5m or whatever accept it or let his contract run down then we sign him.

I’d be incredibly surprised if no other team except us wanted him. There will be interest.

I would tell Petrie to * off. Wait until January. Mcginn signs a pre contract. Loan Allen to St. Mirren or some other club.

If he's a big as Celtic fan as were led to believe he comes here,Also working with Brendan to develop his game and joining a back to back Treble 7IAR squad with potentially Champions League nights i would think that's pretty attractive.

There are only two other teams that have made solid enquiries ... sevco and sunderland

If that utter * Petrie thinks he can extort us over the fantasy that sevco have 4 million or that this kid would go to either of those * basket cases then lawell should tell him to take a nice deep inhale of the steam from his *.

    * 4 million for an spl player who was grinding it out in the 2nd tier last season and who contract is up in less than half a year? Petrie needs to stop substituting mustache wax for * glue, silly * is living on fantasy island
