Looks like he's not going as Rogers said Kennedy is part of his plans, will be interesting to see how that develops because I assume Kennedy wanted to go?

Makes sense to keep him as he's clearly a decent coach and has worked with all of the players that Rodgers hasn't. However that's assuming that he wants to stay. If he wants to leave them surely you have to let him, considering that he's unlikely getting the manager job any time soon.

Not sure you can put the entire blame for set pieces on 1 person. I'm firmly of the opinion that we should have some manner of set pieces coach. It's a critical area of the game - offensively and defensively. A person who looks at every team we play and sees their strengths and weaknesses on all set plays and who works with our guys on who/what works best for pens, corners and free kicks to score/defend would be money well spent, in my opinion...

Interesting if he stays with strachan what does it show … Tottenham appointed a manager 2 weeks ago and probably had him identified and contacted longer than that … still no backroom staff
We identify we want Brendan on Saturday past and looks like we will appoint him today and will have his backroom staff in pronto

He will just have to see how the dice roll. A new manager coming in may have deemed him surplus to requirements. But if both Ange and Brendan want him then the guy must be doing summit right. He has to do what's best for his family.

Would love to keep him for as long as possible but have a feeling he’ll go either this summer or next.

To me it shows that Celtic aren't rolling over for Spurs and Ange and we are dictating the pace at which things are moving. * fair play to The Speccy One, DD and Lawwell Jr.

    https://thecelticstar.com/john-kenn...-brendan-and-ange-he-must-be-good-at-his-job/

    John Kennedy
is a man very much in demand and very soon he’s got an enormous decision to make. Wanted by Ange Postecoglou at Spurs while Brendan Brendan wants him to stay put to help him kickstart his exciting revolution second time around at Celtic Park.

Having two superb managers who have worked at the highest level fighting for your services means you must have something about you. It says a lot about your skills and character, something that is sometimes overlooked by some in the Celtic support who tend to take Kennedy for granted.

John Kennedy has had plenty of stick and accusations threw his way in his time at the club. In the eyes of his critics, John is seen as useless. He doesn’t smile, he’s a rotten defensive coach etc. they really have had it in for him. That has eased over the past two seasons under Ange Postecoglou but it’s notable that not only the Australian wants him to head down to Spurs to continue their working relationship but Brendan Rodgers is desperate for him to stay on at Celtic

John has been present in the coaching staff under a number of managers for nigh on a decade. From Ronny Deila to Brendan Rodgers first time around, Neil Lennon and Ange Postecoglou. These guys wouldn’t keep you in place if you weren’t good at your job, which John clearly is. he was given his debut by none other than Kenny Dalglish 23 years ago as The Celtic Star recently reminded him at a media conference which he was taking as Ange was (cough) unavailable that day.

Of course John Kennedy has ambitions to be his own man one day, but the chance to continue to work at Celtic is an attractive one to John. He could of course end up at Spurs, although it could be blocked by contractual issues, but either way there is no denying that John Kennedy is good at his job.

With the money on offer in the English Premier League, John Kennedy might be tempted by that and also the chance to work in the highest profile environment in World football. And if Celtic are serious about keeping him at the club then a new and improved contract could be in the offing.

No disrespect to our his critics in our support, they’re entitled to their opinions after all, but I’d rather trust the opinions of the men who are tasked with managing our club and they all seem to rate John Kennedy very highly indeed.

Let’s hope Celtic can convince him to stay. Here’s when he arrived…

I'll be very surprised if he doesn't go to Spurs, if asked.

JOHN KENNEDY could now STAY at Celtic to be a central part of imminent new boss Brendan Rodgers' backroom staff.

Kennedy has been pursued by Spursever since Ange Postecoglou left the Treble-winning Hoops and told owner Daniel Levy he wanted the Scot by his side at the North London club.

SunSport Online was first to reveal Postecoglou's move for Kennedy.

And the 39-year-old was immediately excited by the appeal of joining the Greek-Aussie in the Premier League after nearly 30-years of service at Celtic as boy and man, winning everything domestically and multiple times.

However, the sudden emergence of Rodgers as the number one choice of Celtic's major shareholder Dermot Desmond's to replace Postecoglou dramatically changed the possible dynamic for Kennedy's future.

The Hoops have stubbornly resisted the interest of Spurs for their current assistant manager who has also worked for Neil Lennon, Rodgers first time around and Ronny Deila at first team level since 2014.

Kennedy's been in limbo - but now it's understood the lure of working alongside the Northern Irishman again is strong.

They have maintained a close relationship ever since Rodgers controversially quit Celtic in February, 2019, for Leicester City.

Kennedy could've headed to the Foxes, too, but the timing wasn't right and he instead stayed to be Lennon's right-hand man.

Now, though, he could be dramatically reunited with Rodgers at the Hoops.

Spurs remain in the frame for him, although ironically Rodgers' former long term No2 Chris Davies now looks bound to be part of Postecoglou's staff at Spurs.

It's a massive decision for Kennedy who has been a key figure in Celtic's tremendous successes over the last decade.

But now he's edging closer to staying at Parkhead.

With Rodgers returning it's a no brainer, he could join Ange at spurs and be oot a job in 6 months. :67:

If the new manager has to be Rodgers I'd be glad if Kennedy and Strachan were still here, makes it more likely there's some continuity in the style of play compared to him coming in with new staff and trying to rip everything up from the roots. I mean he might still do that anyway he's got some size of ego on him, but fingers crossed.

I'm more than happy if Rodgers comes in and wants Kennedy to remain as assistant - there'll be no shouts of nepotism from me.

Rodgers will bring in O'Driscoll and one more to his backroom team, and that's his prerogative.
