Good post.....unbelievable that we cannot invest in players that are so badly needed at the back....biscuit tin time again.

I dont see much wrong except the matthews quote

I was asking were commons was (we needed somebody coming in late when we attacked & commons brings that)

Most people were asking why mulgrew wasnt playing CB but ask anybody & they would take maj before loovens

ledley seems to be one of the players that you only miss when he is out of the team(im sure neil lennon was like that when he played for us) doesnt look as if he does much but you notice his workrate missing when not in the team.

With the players we have it is hard to pick a team but not 1 fan would have picked the team lennon played

why was sammy playing & not stokes?
why was mulgrew playing in the midfield?
why was ki playing before ledley? (this one is debatable)
why didnt he take el sid off when we could all see height was a problem?
why was loovens playing CB rather than mulgrew or maj?

this is the questions i would like answered

For the people who say Mathews should of played RB if he would of done poorly than everyone would of been flogging Lenny for playing a 19 year old

    Just cant get enough
Hartson makes some good points and some of them are nonsense.
The good points about Sammy, commons, stokes and mulgrew are obvious. Hardly an earth shattering insight to be honest.
Surprised at him criticising lenny to this extent as well. With friends like these who needs enemies?
Sure lenny expects it from the fans but must be hard to take from a so called mate.

He makes some fair points and a couple I don't agree with.

I don't have a problem with the article.

The fact is, you may not like or agree with the questions that BBJ was posing in this article, but the point of the article is that not only did the selected players let the manager down, the manager let the fans down with his selection in the first place, with the choice of tactics (zonal marking etc) & when realizing there was a problem, not doing enough to correct it.

We may agree on the merits of this column and certain points he makes but he most certainly isn't spot on as usual.

His slating of Davie Weir comings to mind saying he's finished after 1 bad game and saying we'd win the league if they persisted with him after Hooper skinned him in the 3-0 game (who most players would have been fooled with) as it was a brilliant piece of skill and then Weir went on to play a blinder and captain them to the title.

i,ll agree its nonsense about mathews ....but as for the rest ..he,s about bang on the money......mulgrew should of been back at cb....ledley should of played ,...brown had one of his better games ...but probably should,nt of played in front of ledley ...anyone can see lennys struggling....why leave brown on for 10 mins knowing he was injured...the fourth goal summed it up four players around there man yet he still put it in the box ....lenny now has a lot of pressure to deal with ..and cheifly of his own making...i loved lenny as a player ..but im afraid i see no improvement in a team that should of walked the league last year...mcoist outthought him ...it could of been six or seven.....they had a perfectly good goal chalked off .....im afraid its time to take the "he,s one of us blinkers" off before this team becomes a mockery....

Although Matthews is for the future and unproven here he was cardiffs first choice and i probably prefer him to Wilson... That being said new factors with a new club so mwilson should play but I dont think Hartsons as far off as it seems on that note. Rest is spot on

I agree with BBJ mostly. Big Maj is pish fact! He isn't the answer but it should have been Mulgrew & Wilson in the centre of defence. Big Glenda can look decent at times but he hasn't got the balls for a Glasgow Derby, maybe Kelvin Wilson is the same.

Why was Mulgrew playing LM? Everyone agrees that Samaras should not have started ahead of Stokes, except Neil Lennon. I would have Cha as first choice RB, but he's injured and Wilson was given the nod but I would have played Matthews before him.

The players certainly let everyone down and don't seem fit to wear the hoops but NL should have changed it earlier than he did and why was Mulgrew allowed to get sent off? I could see he was on the brink about 20 mins before it happened so why didn't our management?

Why was Ledley not playing he would have been one of the first names on the team sheet IMO? I've not got a problem with Commons not playing because he has been appalling this season and maybe Lenny was giving him a wee shock to try and motivate him.

8 out of 10 for big John. The main problem is however a lack of quality ,one of the poorest celtic squads for a long time.

The main problem is the fact BBJ is writing for a rag newspaper!
