He asked why Maj wasnt starting.
He asked why Matthews wasnt starting.

Before the game very few/no one where asking for these players to play.

The problems at our club stem from 4 or 5 years ago imo

WHY HASNT A DECENT CENTRAL DEFENDER STILL NOT BEEN SIGNED???? Its * horrendous for a club like ours not to have went out a bought a * who can defend, ffs the hunns brought in weir for * all and he is still better than anything we have at our disposal at the grand old age of 41................... The board or manager or previous management have a lot to answer for

The manager or the board will be to blame if we lose the league again this year. coz imo we have been crying out for a decent centre half for ages and the board still havnt deliverd.

As do the scouts, who the * picked out hoovheld and the likes of loovens??? We have not had a proper centre half since the likes of valgarean, balde and mjallyby, they all were not the best with the ball on the ground but they were immense in the air...... and could defend set pieces something this team, mobrays team and strachans teams proved they couldnt do.... zonal marking is 70% to blame imo.................. 30% is just because we have that poor a quality of defenders who dont know how to defend.

A believe a team should build from the back, something we DONT DO, the quality of central defenders at us is a discrace especially when you look accrosss the city and see that they have signed a decent enough big man for buttons, and it was the exact same with boughera, a hated the * but a would have liked that sort of defender at us...... sadly we wont spend on defenders.

We were promised 3 quality signings that transfer window as well and the majority have had the wool pulled over the eyes again, as usual because we were 2 players short of what we were promised, we spent no real money, and brought in wanyama for 700 grand or so and paid decent enough money for bangoura ................ I think that money would have been better spent else were, although we really did need another striker. maybe if the scouts done there homework better we could have got 2 players

There's alot of expert managers and tacticians on here after Sunday's game.

Thier is problems and Sunday wasn't good enough but lets not be reactionary.

Everyone is slating Loovens but he started the season well after a good pre-season, came back on Thursday after 5 weeks out slotted in quite well. So who could say Sunday's calamity coming.

I dont buy all this he's always crap against Rangers. He's one of the longest serving members of our team and Rangers have different strikers every other year so its a different challenge so that point is simplistic in my view.

The Cup Final win in 2009 when we beat Rangers 2-0 was his best game in a Celtic shirt in my opinion.

Loovens does have concentration lapses and flaws but he's better than Majstrojovic. Maj has the mobility of an elephant and at 34 still does stuff a teenager wouldn't do. (Sion away)

Obviously BBJ's column has some truth in it , you don't have to be an expert to know Sunday wasn't good enough but there's a lot of in-consistences in his column and drivel IMO.

Hindsights a wonderful thing and no-one was good enough on Sunday.

No but we were asking where was Ledley.. why was Mulgrew at Left mid.. Why was Stokes not starting & Samaras was yet again (despite him playing well)

After the past 3 seasons we`ve had to put up with i hardly think you can call any grief we have a knee-* reaction!!!

I agree loovens wasnt the worst on sunday he was one of the better players, but he still isnt up to scratch imo, we have been crying out for quality at the back and do you know something a thought we found it with kelvin wilson but after watching him struggle against atletico and now rangers a fear the worst for the rest of the season with him at the back, he,s not assured me so far.:50:

There has been problems in our CB positions for years now.

You can only pish with the * you've got now though so Lenny needs to get it right.

Mulgrew played really well in Left-mid at Ibrox at the start of the year so anybody who watched that game would know he can do a job there.

Samaras and Stokes polarise opinion. Stokes has never played well or made an impact against good opposition (i.e Huns and Europe) - some argue he hasn't had his chance but he's had minutes and failed to make an impression.
I prefer Sammy - some would say blind-faith.

Blunt as you put it, you are 100% correct.

Last season to fix our leaky defence we signed:

    Forster (loan)
    Mulgrew (free)
    Cha (free)
    Maj (free)
    Izzy (600k)

This season, knowing our defence is poor we signed:

    Wilson (free)
    Matthews (free)
    Forster (loan)

This to me is why we cannot defend. Perhaps the question should be, why would we assume they can defend having spent a total of £600k on 7 players?

People will always moan after a defeat, but that doesnt detract from the fact that we have seen no net spending over 3 year and have a half a teams worth of freebies and loan players. It is a disgrace

It was Lennon who was * bent on signing Kelvin Wilson, yet this guy hadn't played for over a year, and some of the Forest fans that came on our forum said he was just average, others said he was slack defensively and lacked concentration. Not the sort of commanding centre back we needed. Rangers go out and sign two good centre backs just like that, no problem.

He was *-bent on getting him in January and yet a couple of 100k was the difference. Just arrogance by the Celtic board again.

yeah Stokes has had minutes... thats not a chance!!

I agree about Mulgrew i thought he was the only one showing passion too but point is he shouldve been at Centre back!!

Lennon got it wrong big time on Sunday.. & he was lucky they never scored more than 4 against us in the end!!

what are you talking about, wilson has done more than enough to be dropped, he has been horrible, if Cha was fit I am sure lennon would have played him

True. Loovens certainly doesn't deserve to be dropped.before Wilson.

Agree with bbj. Maj has handled jelqvic better than any of our other defenders

great post. people saying its knee-* reactions and being wise after the event is rubbish. when i saw the team on sunday i thought, Sammy again, * no. Wheres Stokes? why has Brown waltzed back in? Wheres Forrest, and Ledley, why is Mulgrew playing midfield when we have a shitload of good midfielders? I think Lennon believed he was a master tactition after Sammy had 1 good game at Ibrox last season and thought he just had to set the team up the same way to get the same result. Naieve.
