He had a good season last year but so far in the current season he has been very poor is this due to the new mans tactics or has he been off form I don't know .

would like to hear what is wrong with marks view as i think he's spot on as well

the midfield does get over run all the time we always look short centrally

the attacking midfield 3 arent doing anywhere near enough work

its gonna sound stupid but it looks like the back 4 and the 2 central mids are the defensive guys and the others 4 are the attackers

and the attackers expect the defenders to do ALL the chasing, harrying, grafting, defending whilst they are the elites for forward duties only

maybe it would work better if the attacking central midfielder had a high productivity level which commons doesn't

i could see this working as if we were getting bossed like on thursday a counter attack to acm would open things up for us and make the other team think conservatively, but that kinda tells you how good that guy has to be and how important he is to the team and the formation

this attacking central midfielder has to be able to shield the ball and keep hold of it he can't lose possession all the time or the whole formation collapses

He left Kayal totally out of his 3 man midfield, and says that commons does nothing then the odd goal. But hr also had one right point that I misunderstood.

I only left Kayal out because ...i forgot about him no other reason .i think hes a great player .

I think Commons is past it to be honest at Euro level..The Zagreb game he only had 35 passes and 53% passing accuracy.
His opposite number Marcelo Brozovic in the Zagreb team had 87% passing accuracy and made 105 complete passes.

Commons passing was just as bad in the Redbull game.

Yet he scored the winner, some people put stats on a pedestal. The reality is his stats for the Zagreb game are entirely over-shadowed by the fact he made the best passage of play of the game which ultimately won us 3 points.

    End of story.

Watching the game back, he wasn't actually that bad. I was out on thursday and skimmed through the match thread and the reactions of some were way over the top (regarding the game in general).

I don't think he had a poor game. I just didn't notice him.

He dropped back the second Denayer or Virgil went forward, I can see exactly where Deila is coming from suggesting he played well.

He was one of our best players.

Think the boy has ability. Not performed this season so far though but he's certainly capable

Another reason he's not performing as well as last season is the amount of running and covering he does so he ends up making tired misplaced passes and less forward runs to get involved.

I bet he's under pressure from Deila due to being his "golden boy".

Give it time and I think he'll be better than Ledley.

just dont understand why he is playing as a defensive mid . He is poor in possession and cant tackle or track back :smiley-laughing002: . The only position i can imagine him suiting is in an advanced role like a playmaker he can thread good balls through and has an eye for goal to be fair to him . Playing him in a midfield 2 with brown is horrible and has got to stop.

I agree with people saying he's out of position, I would love to see Brown and Kayal sit deeper with Johansen in front of them. His best attributes are definitely better suited to an attacking role and I would like to see him play there. Kayal has been chomping at the bit for months and I think its time he was given a run of games.
