He nearly cost us by diving in first half and getting nowhere near the ball. The one where they rattles the bar. He tried to read the pass and got wrong side, and ended up lunging in.

I would tend to agree with this, think he could be better further up the park.

If he was played in the right position, ie a more advanced role then his performances would be better.
He is not a holding midfielder but yet he is played there. We need some big strong Balde/Wanyama no nonsense scary in your face defensive midfielder bought in the next window.

Off form and doing a role that involves a lot of running, he needs a break as well but maybe Ronny is trying to get him to play through the bad form, he obviously what him and Brown as his main CM's with Commons and Virgil & Gordon as well as the spine of the team. He was excellent at the end of last season just needs time to adapt to his role.

But then why sell ledley in the first place, i wanted him either further up the park or sold and replaced with a better player, but johansen isnt that player. His offensive controbutions doesnt ever overshadoe his defensive weaknesses.

Watched him recently playing for Norway v Italy and he was * brutal in my opinion, his passing was abysmal, but he put in two tackles and won MOTM.

He started well here but he's been especially poor under Deila which is surprising given their history together. I think he's been asked to play as a deep-lying playmaker, he's not really cut out for it though.

Neither, the criticism he is getting just now is ridiculous.

hes a bottler as simple as that when he breaks forward he bottles it his miss against maribor and his breaks into the box where he loses the ball all the time proves this the good thing is he can rid it out of his game he still has time

He can pick out some great passes, but that seems to be all he has to offer.

Kind of like Eremenko, except not fat.

A bottler is the last thing I would lay at his door, he just does not have the composure of a natural finisher. The exact same as Efe when he goes on mazy runs.

If Johansen had the technical ability of Eremenko he'd be worth £20 million. Merge those 2 and you've got a tireless grafter with vision, skill and passing.

off form, he has been great for the most part since he arrived and has only recently had a poor run of games, People also forget that with a new manager and a new style players have to adapt and get comfortable.

Our Central midfield of 2 are being over ran every * game because our Attacking midfield of 3 does nothing .
Commons scored the other night then went awol .

Put someone in front of Broonie and Stefan that can actually hold the ball, make passes and plays ..and the team would be instantly transformed.

There is a reason Ronny had dropped Commons before because he sees him as a liability ..because we cant afford to play a player that scores the odd goal then does nothing.

With the team we have now i would like to see Stoksey or Stefan as the central AM with Guidetti or Scepovic infront of him .

Biton can play beside Broonie because hes a defensive midfielder.

Also i wish our 2 CBs VVD and Jason would stay the * back and just * defend .:31:

The system makes the two holding midfielders pivotal so both need to be totally on the ball..

Johansen and Broonie work harder than anyone apart from...Gordon

The 6-1 game against Unitied is the only time I've seen the system totally work and Johansen for me was man of the match, pressing, passing, energy and a goal that summed up his work rate.

Since then he has been poor and needs dropping for a couple of games, it is better when we have left-sided player is his position and Charlie needs to come back and prove he can play there..

Defo an area we need to strengthen tho...:shamrock:
