Folk blaming Griffiths for Mjallby leaving :smiley-laughing002:

He said he wants to go home and pursue management and possibly get into the national team set up. Is he a liar then aye ?

    * witchhunt.

Surely John Kennedy will just step into the position of assistent manager ? Promote from within.

When Neil Lennon leaves he could step up and become manager. Similar to what Barca done with Pep Guardiola.

Griffiths the * probably forced him out. Disgraceful that Lennon is choosing a halfwit ned over a great servant like Mjallby.

Not happy with the club for this. :38:

What the * are you talking about ? How has Griffiths forced him out ?

Johan said why he wanted to leave. By suggesting otherwise you are calling him a liar.

Get the pitchfork away. I'm getting tired of this.

It's really early days but hopefully one day we can just promote from within and keep having a turnover of managers/players who all play the same way and systems right through the youth teams, like on the continent!

We should do what Ajax do and get ex-players to Manage and Coach the youth teams, then they can work their way up.

Too late now probably but we should have tried to get McNamara, Sutton, Petrov, Thompson and that into that as soon as they retired.

That's a great idea in practice but in reality we couldn't afford it.

Plus there is the respect issue, most of those players never came through our youth system.

Really shocked and disappointed at this :54:

The possible reasons for him leaving?

    1. Wants to be a manager.
    2. Wants to move back to Sweden to be with family.
    3. Lennon is leaving in the summer too, and he doesn't want to be his assistant again.
    4. Announcing this on same day that Moyes is sacked? We've agreed a deal with Moyes and Mjallby doesn't want to be his assistant.
    5. Griffiths thinks that swedes are refugees?

Regardless all the best big Johan :50:

We've had some great defensive performances under Lenny, I'd like to think Johan (as well as McGrain) had a part to play in them:50:

Big Johan was my favourite player in M O'N's team, and that included Larsson. Lenny was my 2nd so when these 2 linked up I was delighted. Wish him allthe best and hope he goes on to even more success. Hope Lenny doesn't follow.

It's a great model and one we should continue with, with the likes of kennedy..
Commons looks next and then the likes of broony..

But you look at some of the decent ex celts out there who could have worked up through us like jackie and the way he brings through youths, lambert at villa etc even big malky..

Can't help but think Lennon's own plans/position for next season has maybe had a bearing on his decision. Obviously could be totally wrong though!

It's a surprise but it may be a blessing in disguise. Nothing at all against Big Johan I really like the guy. It's good to give the backroom a bit of a shake up every now and then and him leaving on his own accord (presumably to a managers role) gives a nice opportunity for this. A new pair of eyes on the training field or tactics board can only be a good thing.

I like the idea of promoting from within ie Kennedy, but it's a big no to another untried ex pro a la Petrov and another no to ex favourites who haven't had the best management CVs. An experienced assistant would be nice.

I am guessing big Dolph feels it is time for him to take a managers job for himself. It really is very sad to hear he is leaving. He was such a good player for us and has been a key man obviously since Lennon took over as manager and brought Mjallby in as asistant.
Sad as it is to see Mjallby leave I wish him nothing but the best. He played such an important role in so many great days for Celtic both on and off the field. Thanks for the memories and all the best.
