and people were complaining about Goodwillie's attitude

great player but is seriously hindered by off field antics, something that would be further scrutinised if he came to the goldfish bowl of Glasgow.

personally, i don't think we need him as i'm content with Kayal, Ledley, Ki, Wanyama and McCourt. the wages that would be required to attract him here could be used for a better use ie getting a keeper and a striker in.

McCourt can't fill in centrally. Wanyama hasn't been here long enough for anyone to be content with. So that leaves 3 as you've left brown out, so what happens if one gets injured or has a terrible run and Wanyama isn't ready? Think a lot of us are making some hasty assumptions with our midfield this year. Don't get me wrong I'd love things to run smoothly but this is football!

Joey Barton v Rangers- oh oh! 10 men for us most of the game! Maybe they will try and sneak in for him.

Slept on this one, I wasent keen on Barton coming up to us yesterday but I have to say thinking about it he is a top class midfielder and would be great in this league, a move away from the EPL might be what the player needs and I am sure that Lenny could handle him, So if it does happen on a reasonable wage I would be happy enough.

McCourt, when he does get game time, has been played in the middle.

Wanyama is 4th choice and i'm happy with that.

i've left Brown out as his first position is out wide. if i was going to name all those who can play in the middle, eg Mulgrew, it would of further proved my point of not needing Barton.

hasty assumptions? i don't think we are. it's our strongest area in quality and in depth of quality. therefore, it should be the last area we improve while other areas, eg strike force and keeper, are screaming for improvement. were you happy with it last year? i was. so i see no need for Barton. we're good enough in that area without him.

Maybe similar to the balde carry on except' we will let you go for free if you sign this wee bit of paper saying that you would not spill the beans about what happens behind closed doors'.which he was kind of referring to in his twitter stuff

Although his behaviour is not ideal off the park barton would give us a different dimenson in midfeild and i think would be a great foil for kayal as he is able to dictate play with his passing and isnt scared of the dirty side of the game and i totally agree with people wanting to use the money elsewhere but he would improve our side no doubt about it. But i dont see why your content with mccourt in cm when if he plays is used on the left and i think we would be better getting rid of deadwood like mccourt murphy odea hooiveld and rassmusen to get the wages for a striker and keeper than not pushing the boat out for players that will improve our first 11

he would improve the team, true. however, players who have extreme off field behaviour issues may crash and burn in Glasgow. would he be able to handle the pressure of the Old Firm? i doubt it. i can see us playing more than 45mins with 10 men.

in all honesty, i don't care if McCourt stays or goes. i wouldn't mind him staying as long as he is fine with playing 5th choice in the middle.

the bit in bold i totally agree with. however, we are not in a position to push the boat out for Barton while the deadwood are still lingering.

Left brown out as his first position is wide but included McCourt?
I was more than happy last year, who wasn't? But that doesn't mean it will happen this year or it will stay injury free. We do need other areas more sure but unfortunately a top EPL standard striker defender or keeper havnt just been given a free. Barton has, we'd be mad to miss out because we've got good players in that position. Otherwise we may aswell only have 11 men on that logic

Free transfer on a one year contract with the promise of a 4year deal if his attitude is sorted, 20k a week is more than enough for anyone. That would be my cup of tea :icon_mrgreen:

For his own well-being and rehabilitation as a person, he would be best advised to avoid Glasgow.

i included McCourt because, under Lennon, when he is given game time, he has played in the middle. Brown is pushed there only when Lennon is forced to play him there.

last year it didn't stay injury free. i was still content with who was on the books.

you're last point is totally irrelevant. if we were to get Barton in and have very little wages left for a striker and keeper, what's the point? you'd be strengthening one area at the expense of others.

his past would bring this deal into breaking point. i don't think he could handle the pressure of playing for either side of the old firm and living in Glasgow.

He's been playing wide right for Newcastle, no? Would take him on our right flank in a heartbeat. Would provide steel AND footballing ability.

That's all academical though as he will not join Celtic. We can't afford him.

Would be a great signing but really there's no chance of it happening. I'd imagine he would be looking at £60k a week at least.

He can be a very good player on his day but definitely not the sort of person we want at the club. Far too much baggage.
