He does but i can see why some are having a slight dig now and then but he is doing his job quietly ,it would be noticed if he dropped out of the squad ,he does have it in to take a game by the scruff of the neck and control it ,thats still to come.

I would still rather have Ki in for him but Joe Ledley is quality. He is doing a different job than the others. Keeps the midfield ticking when Kayal is doing all robust tackling and superb passing Joe keeps it simple and has a show of class every now and again.

We've yet to see the best of him but he has been far from bad.

Anyone think that maybe the media hype around him signing for us for free when he was rated at 5M and wanted by EPL clubs has made some of our fans expect more in the way of scoring and assists?

I think he is a great player for us, he keeps the ball and works from box to box, i would love to look back at all our goals we have scored as he is always in and around the box. I also think with him never giving the ball away (or rarely) that he helps our attacks, when a team clears the ball and it falls to him it is controlled and passed to another team mate to continue the attack and pins the opponents in.

I agree mate, Kayal is bringing out the best in all midfielders due to his defensive capabilites and dynamic performances. hee oozes confidence, which i believe is rubbing off on the other midfielders as they are confident that Kayal is there to do the robust work behind them.

It allows Ledley to concentrate on getting his foot on the ball and pick a pass, and also allows for Brown to advance on and charge the defence (a position which I have seen him revel in the past few games)

Personally I'm not too sure about Ki. He seems a good player and has obviously come on to a more physical game this season, but i don't think he performs as much for the team as he does for himself, in which i don't mean he is greedy or anything, but that the other midfielders work better with each other than they do with the introduction of Ki.

i think hes the most under rated player in the team, i think he adds balance to the midfield an dhim and kayal have a good partnership, i also think brown going to rm helped the whole team a lot seems to be really enjoying it there

I think Ki and Ledley are very similiar and not strong enough in the tackle when they were playing together. Ki controls the tempo for us and is a superb passer.

Think you will see us go to another level when he comes back; was our best performer for a while there.

I think he's a good steady consistent player but he just does nothing to stand out. When we got him from Cardiff the clips we saw of him was him scoring goals making plenty of runs into the box. On a few occasions he's done this but he's blown his chances to score. I hope in time it comes for him though.

    +1 Ledley and Hinkel.

Ledley balances the midfield well and mostly picks out a great pass. He is very cool with the ball which is good for us.

I bet if he was to score or put in a sensational performance his critics on here would praise him the way they did Stokes

he's been very consistent without being brilliant but Ki will take his place but its good to have problems like this as having a very good squad will win games there for win trophy's

I think Ledley is vastly under-rated tbh. Sure he doesn't stand out as much as some of our other players but he does a brilliant job. He is a silent assassin. Rarely gives the ball away, can win a tackle and has a great range of passing.

Maybe not a definite starter for every game but who is? On form like he is the now then he would be right in the mixer for me hands down.

Completely agree with this too. Decent so far without being spectacular and think we've yet to see the best of him but overall Ki and Kayal would still be my starting pair

the main point for me is ledley doesnt loose the ball. ive yet to see him misplace a simple pass and i struggle to think of a time when he has been dispossessed.

i think the key point here is barry ferguson done the same job for rangers and was idolised for years for it. ledley does this job for us safe in the knowledge that he has alot more than barry in his locker when it comes time to show it.

excellent player - well make cash on him when he goes. he was a free after all

    Not over-rated.

Best possession player in the League. Is Xabi Alonso over-rated? I also said he was the best player against Aberdeen in the MOTM thread thing.

He doesn't get noticed as much as the others as he doesn't give the ball away, he doesn't run around chasing and just because he makes everything look easy.

He doesn't have to chase players like Kayal and Brown, because he's always in position. He doesn't have to turn players like Kayal or Brown because he's always positioned in space, he doesn't lose the ball and chase for it like others because he doesn't lose the ball, no one see's him doing anything daft, because he never does.

He's a classy player and I would agree with Lennon first man on the midfield team sheet.

Ledley could play with Brown, Ki and Commons beside him, he could play with Kayal, McCourt and Brown or anyone but you take Ledley out the middle and it looks less stable to me anyway and I suppose Lennon too. Ledley remains, the rest fit in.

Brown Ki Kayal Commons - this just doesn't look right to me but put Ledley in, in place of Ki or Kayal and it looks fine. Ledley brings something to the centre of the park the rest don't, I couldn't explain what it is but he does and he should always play.

Ledley isnt praised enough imo, as lenny says, because of the role he plays in he's often described as the "water carrier of the team"

one of our best players, him and kayal look good together.

happy for ki to stay out the team tbh, i like this partnership.

Im not happy for Ki to stay out the team as Ki in his own right is an excellent player too. I want to see Ki playing, the problem is for me Brown and Ledley should always play, Ki should play, Kayal should play but with two strikers that means there's no room for Forrest, McCourt, Commons, Maloney or Ljungberg other guys who I also want playing then there's Juarez and Crosas who again I would like to see playing.

When Samaras is fit again, I would like to see in some home games just to rest Hooper and Stokes. Samaras up front alone with Commons, Brown, Ledley, Ki and Kayal all in midfield.

We're blessed with too many good midfield options.

Infact I wouldn't be suprised if Lennon played Hooper up top with Commons and Brown wide and Ledley and Kayal with Ki roaming in behind Hooper this weekend.

I'd rather see Ki than Ledley, Ki offers so much more.
