6-8m for a player with no end product, and, to say the least, poor scoring rate. For 6-8m a far better player could be bought. Doesn't even get a game for Ireland.

Ledley isnt a regualr in the wales team...a worse team than ireland by far.

McGeady should be built around, not sold.

His assist rate isn't good reading but you can't look solely at stats to paint a reliable picture! In order to get an assist you are relying on the striker to put the ball in the back of the net so thats just not that accurate at all!

Bearing in mind he is seen as a creative force, then I see no reason why his assist stat shouldnt be higher, especially considering we have 2 of the most prolific players in the championship (Chops & Whittingham).

He offers very little getting back, very clumsy in the tackle, i'd say his main attribute is that he will always give 100%, but is that really enough for a team like celtic?

That's fair enough, im just saying that stats aren't always the best thing to judge a player on!

Please tell me why we shuld built a team around a player, who struggles to provide and has never scored more than 8 goals in a season? To be fair aswell Ledley is a regular for Wales, but has been blighted by injuries recently. McGeady is a toothless player, whose desire, at times, is questionable as well.

I do agree to a certain extent, but players like Xavi (best midfielder in the world IMO) are judged on their ability to create goals, so I see no reason why other players in the same position shouldnt be judged on this attribute (obviously not to the same extent as Xavi :86:)

Anyway, I would rather a fully fit Maloney with McGeady on the wings to Ledley. However if we're going to opt for a 3-5-2 next season as suggested, then get him in, not much of a risk as he's going on a free aslong as the wages are right.

McGeady has bags of skill and creates plenty. Sadly he has stagnated over the last couple of seasons as the general quality of the players around him has dwindled.

    Fully fit, the Wales midfield would consist of;

    Bale.....Edwards......Ramsey.....Davies

Ledley is seen as the first back-up if any get injured.

Whittingham is by far and away Cardiff's best player!

I'm sure he got the two assists at Wembley too and played in a stunning ball for Chopra in the first half but he fluffed the volley.

Fair enough, but my comment about the season before - when he was injury free - remains. Still a young lad, who has not had a great season in keeping with prior seasons. Additionally, the Cardiff gaffer himself stated that this contractual ping pong was affecting him this season, which may perhaps explain his not reaching prior standards.

One average season, ok, but to be in the Team of the Year aged 22 was no mean feat - as for your Wales comment....agreed; however, he already has 30+ caps and i think we both know he will add to that tally in significant numbers in years to come. Even if they do persist with that 5-3-2 formation they had last week. Christ, he was captain for a couple of games not that long ago, i think.

Could also have Bale at LB, with Ledley left mid...

Are you denying the fact that before injury, he was a first team regular? Also captain as well? You seem to be writing off his international career, which is a bit strange for a guy with over 30 caps at the age of 23, and who has been a captain as well.

Should we expect a winger to score more than 8 goals a season? He did have 14 assists in league play this year, that's not exactly bad for someone who apparently has had a bad year? Why single out McGeady when the desire of the entire team last year was questionable?

    Run along now.... :bbpd:

This Ledley transfer (and the Lawrence transfer) look so promising right now that I will be absolutely crushed if neither are signed. Both are top level players who could get it done in the SPL.

i've criticised mcgeady for alot in the past, inconsistency, lack of goals, etc, but one thing i would never say is that he lacks desire, mcgeady usually works his socks off,he tries to make tackles and usually helps the full-back(granted he could do this more) and the fact that he hates it when he does something wrong shows he cares
