Seeing as Dermot Desmond still lives in 2010 football wise, I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s personally dealing with this one, thinking he’s getting a top keeper for the club.

 

How is it harsh? We’ve given Barkas one competitive game since Olympiacos signed Tomas Vaclik and now it’s acceptable to source a replacement?

I feel for him as he looks depressed so think its better for both parties if he goes back to Greece.

 

Dear * please no. He's genuinely * terrible. Awful with the ball at his feet and cannot save shots down to his left.

We need to steer away from "he's better than Barkas, so its a yes from me" mentality.

Barkas is one of the worst professional goalkeepers in the world at the minute. That's not an exaggeration, just about anyone is better than him.

Hart is a washed up ego maniac and a very poor keeper at present. No club with any sort of European aspirations would be signing this guy as their first choice. Another case of standards slipping and fans accepting it.

 

More than likely is Dermot mate as can’t see it being Ange considering one of the reasons Pep dropped him at City was because he couldn’t play the Keeper Sweeper role , a style that Ange is certainly implementing as we have seen in previous games. Yes he has his weaknesses but He also has something to offer and it’s a definite upgrade at the moment. I was against it last year when we had been rumoured but I’d take him this window if it leaves cash for us to invest in the other positions that are needing strengthened. Hart will do a job for the season give us time to scout a better option.

 

We have European Aspirations? Did someone forget to tell our board this?

 

Don't you think we should be trying to compete in Europe, at least say, getting to the Europa League knockout stages? We've neglected our European form for far too long with the obsession of 10IAR and just being better than a depleted zombie team. We are now suffering the consequences of that * mentality, signing Hart would be another * poor choice and reflective of that same mentality.

 

I don't know if he's even played in two years mate, I don't think we can say with any confidence how good he will be.

I see this is a huge gamble. If we need a stop-gap it would be an SPFL keeper for me that's currently playing games. I'm not good at spotting keepers but I know people talk about the Dundee United keeper. I'd probably aggressively bring him in for the weekend and get a better keeper in before the window shuts.

Hart seems done with football as far as I can see. We could bring in another expensive mistake and be left with 3 keepers to chuck instead of 2.

 

Of course I think we should have European aspirations. Unfortunately our board havnt had any European aspirations in a long time which is reflected in our recruitment and generally how we are run..

 

Sums up the state were in. Dont have a RB, keep Ralston. Don't have CF (selling Eddy as well) Keep Griff. Don't have a decent keeper work with Barkas. It's all last CEO problems, risk averse strategy with last seasons transfer targets.

Keeper wasn't a top priority and probably a thought for next summer. But here we are. Reactive again to a desperate situation. I would take Hart. It's an improvement and very short term but we need a decent keeper first and foremost. The sweeper keeper can be scouted through this season with a view to acting quickly ( I know I know) next summer.

Its too much too soon for Ange and Dom to fix this summer, dare say season. The league starts in a few days and we're not even half way through our rebuild. This season is slipping away already.

 

A keeper that will cost us points just like the 3 we already have, do better than another ‘Dermot Desmond playing football manager’ signing Celtic

 

Bring in another totally unreliable keeper, that'll fix things. Exactly the kind of daft thing Desmond would do cause he's an EPL worshipper and doesn't understand the game. Guardiola binned this bam because he's got banana feet, and he can't even make a save these days. Slot it down to his left = goal.

Let's add him to the wage bill and enjoy the hilarity.

 

Why not just sign Siegrist from Dundee Utd? 1. Younger 2. Already seen he’s good and played football consistently recently 3. He’s not a * (as far as a I know)
