Celtic and Rangers have joined the race to sign Crystal Palace’s England youth international Jesse Derry, sources have told Football Insider.
Clubs across Europe have also contacted the Palace starlet, 17, after being alerted that he had rejected the offer of a professional contract at Selhurst Park.
Derry, who came through the ranks at the Croydon club, is therefore set to leave for a compensation fee this summer – and is attracting interest from Old Firm rivals Celtic and Rangers.
The winger, who scored the winning goal for England’s Under-18 side against Portugal recently, is thought to be open to a move abroad.
Football Insider revealed in February that Bayern Munich, Juventus, Paris Saint-Germain and Atletico Madrid have all watched him in action.
Meanwhile, Premier League sides are also on high alert for Derry as they see him a potential star in the making – after his experience in England youth teams alongside the likes of Ethan Nwaneri and Myles Lewis-Skelly.
The youngster has scored regularly for Palace at the Under-18 level, notching 20 goals in 27 games across all competitions
Meanwhile, Derry has also made his breakthrough for the Eagles’ Under-21 side and scored against RB Leipzig in the Premier League International Cup in January.
He has played at Under-17, Under-18 and Under-19 level for England.

It worked out well for us with Dembele although he was much more ready for us at the time. Rangers did it with Bassey and he’s their record sale.
We need to be able to raid academies from England, as many of these young players will want first team football that will be much harder to get in the PL.
English U18 cap, wanted by top clubs - all for it. -

We seem to be linked with a lot of the same players as the huns in a lot of these rumours. We either have a lot of joint scouts or there's just a lot of made up rumours

He looks like Jamie Tart from Ted Lasso.

Usually assume paper talk pish or agents just trying to get a players some attention if both us and them are linked, but young players from England we'd just need to pay compensation for instead of proper fees are something we should always be monitoring, like when we grabbed Dembele from Fulham.

Personally think any 17 year old wanting to join us is mental, they'll never get to develop properly. -

Don’t judge a book by it’s cover cos Grealish is a wee sweetheart, I love him.

That's a good record for a seventeen year old, and he has a host of top clubs chasing him.
Looks like he has a bit of cockiness about him too, something we are lacking since Broony left. -

Linked to Celtic and Rangers usually means that his agent offers him around, and we're the only clubs in this country who can match his wages terms...
These kinds of deals are 'money for jam' for clubs like us, as even if it doesn't work out we'll make more than the compensation/wages when we sell them on... Be surprised if we're not interested. Whether we pull the trigger or not is another thing... Huns will definitely be circling... -
