I mean does it really though? It’s one person… but I already knew it could be wrong, I wasn’t saying it was fact or anything just something I’d read I’m sure they’ll learn English if they don’t know it but there’s a few of them from Japan now that should help them settle in quickish

Next time I'm at Celtic park I'm gonna buy one of those Japanese bandanas & a flag from the dodgey looking guys outside.

    Who's with me?

I'm also of the opinion that the team should learn Japanese, not the other way around!

Yes, he definitely understood English well and spoke it to some extent at least. A couple of players have mentioned in interviews that he just pretended otherwise so as not to have to deal with the press. Can’t blame him.

The whole team should learn Japanese. A team building exercise.

McGreagor will need to as captain.

I think our entire team should learn Japanese in order for them to do likewise and avoid giving those feckers the time of day

Aye, the boy was up on the podium at Hampden.

There seems to be a humility with Japanese that's good to see. I think these boys will get dug in from the start. Exciting times.

    Wasn’t having a dig mate
I’m sure Celtic will be providing them with English language studies now that we have 4 Japanese now
Will be great for them to have a wee community within the club but hopefully it doesn’t cause division or exclusion
Tbf you look at the way kyogo interacts with others and I’m hoping the new guys have that same attitude (they probs will as it’s down to their upbringing and culture)

One or two more from the J League and it'd be easier for the rest of the squad just to learn Japanese.

    Bring them all home.

Hardly anyone in Japan speaks English. Trying to do anything without a Japanese person was a nightmare. I couldn't even make a photocopy in 7/11 as I couldn't read the kanji! I had to say..HELP!!
It might be different for footy though? Does Ange speak Japanese?

He doesn't. Had his own interpreter over there.

Imo it's good for the Japanese lads they'll be able to communicate with each other on the pitch.

I can see it now :giggle1:

    (In Japanese)

Maeda to Kyogo “These two silly * are following you short if you make your run short from right to left. Do that next time Hatate gets the ball”

Maeda to Hatate “Hatate! Hatate! Knock it in behind the CB’s when Kyogo comes short!”

The big CB’s, what are these little * talking about?

    Boom! Gooooaaalllll :ynwacelti

The huddle will certainly have interesting dynamics also. Just McGregor shouting at them all in an unfamiliar language lol

Naka did have his own interpretor over from Japan. The guy stayed in the hotel i worked in at that time. He was constantly asking me questions about Celtic & Scotland.

I'm sure kyogo has been brushing up on his English along with McGregor learning Japanese.

Is be more than sure that Ange has picked up enough to get his voice heard and then I'm sure there will be a general consensus from the guys to learn as well.

Would still be handy if there is a translator around, but if needed I'm sure that would be the case.

Naka is still an active player at the age of 43! He's playing for Yokohama FC of the J2 League.

I would like to think the players would learn some greetings and small phrases in Japanese to help integrate the new guys.

Didn’t Jota and Kyogo talk in Japanese a little in one of the videos they were in together?
