Then yes. If * the UDA was chanted at Steven Davis by English fans then that would also have racial undertones too

This is spot on and saved me the bother.

James McClean knows what he is and he will expect some stick. I doubt he gives a * and neither should anybody else.

Maybe people who have not grown up with prejudices in their lives on a regular basis or living with conflict, wether religious, ethnicity or otherwise. Have lived a better life and don't quite grasp the insults that lie within these chants. And if they were not prejudice or racist they would not have been chanted in the first place. They were aimed at him for a reason. And wasn't just an unconnected spur of the moment song.

Mate, James McClean gets pelters because he is an unrepentant * *. He will expect stick from all comers.

I doubt he gives a * to be honest and neither should we.

He is hated for the same reason we hate Goram. James is a * dyed in the wool Republican and he doesn't care who knows it.

The treatment of James McCarthy and Aiden McGeady is racism. Two guys whose only crime was chossing Ireland and they got booed out of every stadium in Scotland.

Would this not be a bit like saying Bobby Seale could not be racially abused?

That is a bit unfair. Two completely different scenarios.

Loads of Irish players go about there business free from abuse in England, James gets it because he is unapologetic about who he is and what he stands for.

Like I said, he probably expects stick. Is it right? No. Is it bigoted? Certainly.

Racist though? I'm not so sure.

I may have picked you up wrong. I took it that you thought because he is well able to handle what is thrown at him then it was OK. I agree with you that it probably doesn't bother him too much.

When comparing him with other Irish in the EPL it could be a case of "croppy lie down". I am not faulting the other Irish players for getting on with their job with as little fuss as possible but if they started to rock the boat then I am sure they would suffer the same abuse.

McLean should wear a poppy onto the pitch at the relevant time which will be against Man Utd at Old Trafford.
As the minutes silence is asked for he should then take off the poppy and spit on it and throw it to the crowd.

Well, it would probably be the last act of a dying man because those fans wouldn't let him get out of Old Trafford alive.

The fans were giving him abuse for 90 minutes, if they can give it out they should be able to take it back.

I don't have a problem with the fans shouting '* the IRA', just like I don't have a problem with McClean choosing not to wear a poppy or not singing GSTQ (why anyone non-english person would be expected to do so, I have no idea).

Modern football fans really a bunch of soft-touch * though. He's apparently going to get fined for a 'double fist-pump' in front of the Sunderland fans :smiley-laughing002: I've no idea why fans think they can shout dogs abuse at a guy for 90 minutes (that applies to all clubs, some of the stuff you hear directed to players is pretty disgusting), and not expect even 1% of that back in return.
