James Forrest

Discussion in 'Celtic Chat' started by Drakhan, Jul 25, 2015.

  1. hes a very frustrating player, bags of talent and pace but too scared to use them.

  2. He was absolutely brilliant in the home game against Malmö, wish he could play like that every game, very inconsistent player.

He's really just not as good as people seem to think. I keep saying it but it's the truth. On this occasion the stats don't lie I'm afraid.

I don't want him to fail or anything, but, we need better. Especially in this formation when the wingers/attacking mids are expected to contribute more.

  3. I think the trouble is and it's something i've said before this formation or Ronny's tactic to be more precise doesn't have out and out wingers.
He continually uses midfielders out wide. We play most matches with 5 middle men spread across the park.
I think this is because he prefers their work eithic and tackling abilities to proper wingers.
Look at Armstrong and McGregor (when he's on the right) they are constantly coming inside, leaving the full backs to supply the crosses/width.

The alleged formation we play should suit a player like Forrest. But we seem to be doing it wrong.

  4. Also i'm not saying Forrest is a world beater or anything. But he could be used better imho.

  5. He wont sign a new deal

  6. A lot of his assists are coming from set plays.

  7. Does that detract from the value of them or something?

  8. It detracts the value of the debate comparing Forrests assists to Mulgrew's when its obvious the player who takes every freekick and corner will have more assists.

  9. It's not obvious. First of all, the player must have a good delivery. Another thing to remember is that Forrest should have more opportunities than Mulgrew to score and assist, given the fact he is an attacking player, whereas Mulgrew isn't.

  10. No, it really doesn't when you're comparing somebody who is mainly defensive with somebody who is supposed to be one of the most attacking creative players in our squad. If you want you can compare his stats to someone who is in a similar position? Because they are extremely, extremely poor compared to the likes of Commons.

He has also scored a similar amount of goals as Charlie Mulgrew, again one of our most defensive players. What's his excuse there?

I think the fact that Mulgrew has a better delivery than Forrest, so was taking corners/free kicks can't be held against them, if Forrest had that ability he would have been infront of Chico everytime, mainly because he's a threat in the box at set pieces and Forrest isn't.

As it is, the set pieces have always been a shared responsibility, not just Mulgrews.

  11. It should suit him but at the same time I think because he has poor shooting and doesn't score too many it doesn't.

For example I think someone like Elyounoussi who is more comfortable coming inside and having a pop at goal would see this formation improve vastly. A guy who could contribute 10-15 goals a season as well as doing the usual duties of a 'normal' winger, if you like. I don't see Forrest as being capable of doing that.

Basically, we need a * Arjen Robben on either side. :56:

  12. I don't think he will either..

  13. For me wee james forrest doesn't fit our type of play he doesn't know how to pass a ball what so ever and hes a gready wee * get rid ae him and bring in a new bhoy

  14. I don't think he's greedy, I think he's just a wee no-neck * who cant look up to find a pass, he plays football like a lonely kid in the backyard, taking on imaginary monsters and fizzing the ball into the back of the net in what is surely the greatest goal of all time, crowning him the greatest footballer in all of Xanadu and its surrounding galactic kingdoms..

he can get te *. wont be missed by myself.

  15. :56::56: don't hold back lad..

  16. He has his uses, anyone who can't see that knows * all about football.

  17. That is truly poetic. Seriously one of my favourite posts.:50:

  18. Wee *?

One thing not to rate him but personal attacks on a boy that's came through the ranks and has done nothing to deserve it is poor from a Celtic supporter.
