Aye that's all well and good but what's the point when his end product is as bad as his is?

  2. 3 goals and 3 assists in 43 European games, including all the qualifiers.

He's not played in a winning team in the Europa League since 2011.

He's not played in a winning team in the qualifiers since 2010. we don't play them so often, but interestingly we played Uttrecht and won 2-0 at home. Forrest played 20 minutes. The return game he plays 90 minutes and we lose 4-0. So this is not a new thing.

Champions' League he's played in a winning side twice. In all those games we kept a clean sheet once, back in 2012.

So he doesn't bring much luck in Europe.

He's happy enough to do a wee bit on the ball, then he stops. He's often in and around the action when we lose goals and so many times i'm watching him defend and it's clear in his mind, all he has to do is make up the numbers and play his own game and not what the team needs.

  3. I doubt he'd cut it in the EPL. He has his games, but most of the time he's average

Thought along with Commons he was our best player in Europe this season, one of the few who took some responsibility.

It seems the amount of people who support Forrest are in a minority now.

He has always been a player who has been described as one who needs an injury free spell. Well, for me, he has had more than enough time now to carry that excuse any longer.

Since he broke into the first team, I don't think anyone would disagree that he looked to be a real star. He had the potential to be the next big thing at Celtic.

The problem is, he didn't get any better, and it could be argued that he's actually a worse player now than he was when he was expected to go onto big things.

Nobody can play the young card, or the injured card any more. The facts are he does not have the mentality to be a Celtic player who is capable of holding down a regular first team start.

I've said it many times. When on his game, and in the mood, he can rip any defence apart. The problem being, he is very rarely in the mood.

His body language speaks volumes. Too often he looks like he is simply there to make up the numbers, and his wee shimmy in front of the attacking player with no real effort to put a tackle in no longer works. It's lazy, and it is far less than is expected of a Celtic player.

At this stage of his career, with the early potential he showed, he should either have moved on to an EPL team, or be on the verge of.

He couldn't cut it down there imo, no matter what others say.

There may well be less talented individuals in the lower clubs down south, but one thing they have is discipline and effort, otherwise they don't play.

The frustrating thing for everyone is, Forrest has the ability to be at the very top. He just doesn't have the mentality.

  6. Sure he played in the winning team against karagandy and scored the winning goal to boot.

That a very fair post Paul..

He should be first pick with his ability but his attitude and body language can look poor at times.

It's frustrating as * tbh, because we all want him to be the player we know he can be.

    Over to you James.

  8. He would be found out majorly in the EPL and find himself sitting on a bench . Does not have the quality or consistency to become a better player and has stagnated for four years. Shows glimpses of quality and has a good game once in a blue moon .

  9. Is a non entity in the SPL this season but has been one of our most dangerous players in Europe. Really depends if we bring in a quality replacement.... Not holding my breath

  10. Its ridiculous the amount of scrutiny Forrest is constantly under, * have ill feeling towards him due to injuries, the way he runs or whatever pathetic reason. He's the only player in our squad who can play 3 good games, run by players with ease then he plays 1 average and is slated to * as not being good enough.

The same old not fit enough, always injured jokes come up when he's been fit for some time but of course intelligent player management is frowned upon, I mean what possible reason could a manager have for sparsely using a player who's been injured for the best part of 4 years.

He plays an average game he' *, is off the bench for 10 minutes and doesn't do anything he's * - what an absolute joke. He has played a lot more good games then bad ones since he was been fit this last year, constantly slating is not only detrimental but the complete mark of a moron.

He's deffo improved vastly under Ronnie, consistent runs, really good performances. Hopefully keeps it up.

  12. Absolutely. And I'm far from his biggest fan.

But Armstrong, Johansen, Rogic etc all looked poor in Europe this season and if we were playing in the Europa League tomorrow I'd have Forrest in ahead of any of them.

  13. The split in the support concerning Forrest is very much like the Commons one. A few duff games and he's hopeless, but he'll then play a blinder or have a flurry of good performances and it's the complete opposite.

For some though, it doesn't matter what either of them do. They'll never be good enough and this is just how it is from a supporter's point if view unfortunately.

For example, I'm one of those who will always be sceptical of Forrest, despite how well he plays for a good few games. I know he's too inconsistent to keep that level up on a regular basis. On the other hand though, I'm a massive fan of Commons and believe he's one of our very best players in terms of finishing chances, creating chances and overall intelligence and would be starting every week if it was upto me.

Z1c0 on the other hand, is praising Forrest and calling people who don't believe he's worth the hype anymore "morons". That's fine. It wasn't that long ago he was on slating Commons as being one of the worst players in the squad and criticised him saying he was massively over-rated.

  14. Opinions shifted towards * again. Felt he was good in Europe.

Let's keep in mind this is his first sustained long-term period of fitness. I hope he's here next season. I think we know he won't go higher than this level but can be a useful player for us.

  16. Zico isn't too far off. Forrest isn't a world beater but the timing of the stick he gets is odd. He's been one of the better ones of a bad bunch all season, worst he's had is the odd average game.

Reality is, there are some players our support can't warm to for anything more than brief moments and Forrest is one of them - tbf our support is far from unique in this.

When he's briefly flavour of the month for a while again and enough people are speaking positively of him, the majority will feel comfortable joining in and wrapping their gums tightly around his wee plums again.

Until then folk will just echo and regurgitate sound bites and opinions of others which would have been more applicable a year ago rather than this season or even slate the lad personally (he's a wee */ nae shooder * etc) which is underserved and poor craic towards one of our own.

  17. Don't buy that he's been that good at all this season. 2 goals and 2 assists by the end of January just is not enough from a player of his position, when he has been played quite a lot too.

That doesn't tell the full story.

Sometimes stats are misleading. Your eyes will do in some instances.

  19. I have never seen him play 3 good games . This whole post is hysterical from a guy who spits his dummy out and threatens to quit the forum if people don't agree that Kris Commons is pish .

A player of his position needs to be delivering in those very categories though, wide players that aren't producing goals or setting them up on a regular basis isn't what is needed.
