I still blame Neil Lennon :icon_mrgreen:

From the moment he stood in front of the TV cameras and said Forrest was world class, his (Forrest's) whole attitude changed. It looked like he believed that vastly over the top hype at the time, and went backwards when he was a great wee player.

Kinda like the Burchill - Owen, Donnelly - Dalglish, or Fulton - Baggio comparisons.

Sometimes managers need to shut the * up. :smiley-laughing002:

  2. It's the system. Our 'wingers' don't play as wingers. Simple.

When was the last time you saw Hazard or Robben making daft tackles at the edge of their own box where the * defenders and midfielders ought to be doing it?

Our system is looking more 4-5-1 these days with 5 midfielders and an isolated striker.

Wonder if people still think he's better than McGeady.

He's a useful player but laziness and injuries have stopped him being the top footballer he should have been.

    I agree with this.

There's absolutely no need to play 2 holding midfield players in domestic football.

Free one of them, and you free space for wide players.

  5. Haha true mate. I know he's frustrating as * but he's useful

Robben does it all the time. He's playing for a Guardiola team, everycunt defends and attacks as a team.

His game went up several levels when he decided to start working his * off under Juup Heynckes.

Hazard has decided to take that out of his game this year, the work rate and hard graft and he looks a shadow of what he was last season.

  6. Really? I think we let both of them roam free, which is half the * problem and why we miss Broony so much as well, he's the only one who knows how to pick his moments. Two holding players can allow you to go extremely attacking, like MON did with Lambo and Lenny.

We don't really have any sort of proper sitting midfielders in this team I don't think.

  7. If Bolton go under and he leaves do you think we'd ever get Lenny fit enough for SPFL action? :56:
Could sure do with a player like him.

  8. Aye Scott Brown is the only real good defensive midfielder but even then he's more someone who uses speed and energy to get back and mop up, not really the type who sits in and tries to prevent danger, more reacts and recovers.

Could do with an older experienced guy who is used to just sitting protecting especially for Europe.

  9. For the SPFL aye, maybe no for Europe :56:

The personnel in the MON team meant we could play any formation we wanted and it would have worked. He played more a 3-5-2 when we were at our best domestically.

With what we have, I'd prefer us to play one holding, like we did with Hartley, and free space for our wide players.

I don't think we miss Brown as much as some think, but as the one holding player I think he'd be great. It would also suit Johansen, who I still think is a great player.

  11. Dunno about that. He still loves to chase the ball about like a puppy sometimes. I think he has ADHD :56:
Maybe with age he will curb it.

  12. I think with the players we have at our disposal the current formation isn't getting as much as it should out of them, I'll agree with that.

He's never been anywhere near McGeady.

Do folk actually think he's better?

I remember a poll when he first broke through and a lot of posters were saying he was already better than McGeady in terms of end product.

    TC in a nutshell, really.

True. His assist and goals rates with us are actually quite consistent, considering wide men are notoriously inconsistent.

Even from the get go it was clear they are two different kind of wingers anyway.

Just enjoying seeing him have an injury free season and Ronny has managed his fitness very well.

He has been one of our better players this season but defo needs to add more goals and assists to his game.

Hopefully an injury free season will do wonders for his confidence.

  17. Never tried a leg when he came on. Was infuriating. That wee nonchalant dangling leg to give away the freekick as well :31:

The system is pish but that still has nothing to do with Forrest lack of a final ball.

Comparisons to McGeady are laughable. Aiden was on a different level.

  19. Made a difference when he came on today. He at least tried to lift the tempo and inject a bit of pace into our play. I'm still not a fan of playing him on the left though.

  20. He played well was bemused when Ronny subbed Rogic instead of that * beachball Commons
