Surely that’s the issue though? He was presented with a couple of massive chances and didn’t look remotely convincing.

Other than that, I don’t remember him doing much.

As has been said, everything he does these days lacks any sort of conviction. Wee tippy tappy touches on the ball, scared to tackle, doesn’t have the legs to go past players, daisy cutters when he shoots.

 

When that happened I was going to post on here but what's the point.. he's been pulling out of tackles for years..

I gave up on him when we played Motherwell just before he got injured at home and he bottled out of an aerial challenge in our box.. didnt even jump when he would of been 70/30 fav too to win the challenge

 

Would be more of an issue for me if he wasn’t getting in the position to get those chances personally.

A few weeks down the line with a bit more sharpness to his game and he’s got a couple of goals under his belt and the discussion is a positive one.

As a fourth option I’m fine with him.

 

I think his lack of form is far more to do with confidence than his age tbh.

He probably needs to accept that he’s not going to be a regular starter and focus on contributing and adapting as much as he can. I don’t think he’s ever been overly reliant on his pace and it’s no great shock that a winger isn’t the most aggressive in a tackle (as annoying as that can be to watch at times, I know).

Still firmly believe he’ll play a part this season.

 

I think that's the issue many fans have with him, the 'on another day' has been long time coming. Last season the excuse was 'he's just back from injury', 'he's no match sharp' where the stats suggest he's reached his peak and sadly on the decline.

 

Think he will play his part this season and clamp a few on here.

 

I'd be happy to be proved wrong, MORE! Than happy to be proved wrong. I don't want anyone to fail in a celtic jersey but sentiment doesn't score or create goals. If we want to progress there is no room for passengers no matter how long you've been at the club.

 

Not Having a go mate but what has He shown in the past 2 seasons to suggest he will be anything other than a bit part player.. I just don't see how he fits into Anges team.. at the moment he offers absolutely nothing..

Again like others I'll happily be proved wrong but I doubt it...

 

He's definitely lost some pace but there's so many games where teams sit deep, his experience and composure, if he can stay fit will definitely be useful..

At 31, he's not finished yet..

There's so many games between now and the WC, he will get the game time..

 

He will definitely get game time with the amount of games we have and the fact he got a new deal.. not sure it will be any of our big games though..

 

He seems so massively short in confidence, almost always makes the wrong decision when he gets into the final third and either plays a pass that breaks the attack down or fluffs a shot, rarely hits it cleanly. I still have a lot of time for Jamesy though. He's not my first pick at the moment obviously but would love to see him get a bit of confidence and regain some composure.

 

Anyone notice how long it takes him to get back up on his feet after he hits the deck?

 

He used to do that all the time when he was younger, sit on his * with his arms outstretched while the ball races up the other side of the park then fix his hair and slowly get up, and it drove me nuts. He seemed to stop it when Rodgers took over but I've seen it creeping back in this pre season. Hopefully Ange will nip it in the bud again sharpish.

 

Thought he was excellent, the starting 3 up front were miles better than those that came on.

Aye he should have scored but he was dangerous as he'll as was maeda and abada

 

Killed so many attacks when he came on, far too slow now yet still tries to beat a man for pace.

 

Looked a bit quicker today, however his end product was garbage. Badly, badly needs to be upgraded on.

 

Kept the ball well and created probably our two best chances out-with the goal. Put it on a plate for Abada and picked out Giako for his shot late on.

He should be instructed to cut in on the left at all times though and let Berni overlap, as his crossing is useless and always ends up in the keepers hands or over the bar.

 

They'll be the cleanest boots ever!
