Showed all his experience tonight, his retaining of the ball is invaluable. Some of the play between him Rogic and Kyogo, especially the first half was unreal.

Like I said earlier I’ll give credit where credits due but we need players that play for 70-90 minutes. He plays for Celtic you’ll always create or score goals, like everyone some people will see him as a good player, some won’t, I know I’m over critical of him, that’s due to me seeing him at his best under Rodgers which was fantastic, sadly he’s nowhere near that for the last few seasons.

He is an important player, he scores important goals.

You stated in the match thread he can’t beat a man when he he did in the first half and got a shot away.

I explained fully in the match thread regarding him playing on the left, it’s been tried several times over the years and he is not as effective when playing on the right.

You forgot about tracking back winning balls and getting forward also, that tracking back making a tackle and turning it into a rapid attack by passing it to Kyogo was great piece of counter attacking.

Forrest is 30 now, he still has a couple of years left in him to play his part, to say he is gash like you did is simply silly when he is still a very good player.

Maybe this should be in the Controversial Celtic Opinions thread, but here I go anyway:

If the Juranovic deal falls through, we should sign a winger instead and use Forrest as the other RB option, rotating with Ralston. Doesn’t mean he can’t still play RW as well; just would be one of our go-to RBs.

As Dev says above, his ball retention is fantastic. For a guy who’s mainly known for attacking and putting balls in, he’s so safe with the ball and rarely loses it.

He’s also very capable in the tackle, can track back and hold position well, and - when he’s in space to do so - is great at making interceptions.

Not saying I wouldn’t rather get someone in and use Forrest at RW permanently.
However, as we get nearer to the closing of the window, if we can’t get Juranovic and we’re left with little time, I’d rather we went this route and signed a backup winger for depth, rather than chasing our tails to find the perfect starting right-back.

Knowing us, it’s not out of the question that the Juranovic deal falls through but it seems to be a done deal if media sources are to be believed.

I dont think it was his best game last night but he is still so valuable to us, I don't know how anyone cant see it.

He is miles off his best form, and yet he is still contributing to the team with goals and assists. Other players often get slagged even when they are playing well but have no end product. Sometimes you just can't win.

If we had Christie back for next week I'd be tempted to start him on the left and Forrest on the Right, with a view to bringing Abada on in the second half when they are tired to run at them. Especially as Kyogo seems to get taken off around the 70 minute mark, and we need someone else with pace to replace that when he goes off.

Never a left winger as we know but he put a shift in for us, got a goal and put in some cracking crosses. If he hits form soon it’s going to be very tough to choose a front line.

Saw that. Disappointing. McCarthy not there either. Imagine they’ve picked up knocks in training.

Just makes it all the more imperative that we get another winger in.

Will be a miss, I wouldn't have started him as Christie, Kyogo and Abada are on fire and their energy and running will be good at getting in behind them but he's a solid defensive player who holds a ball well which would have been vital late in the game, especially as Kyogo and Abada always gets subbed about 60-70 minutes in as they put in a lot of running. Doesn't give us many options now. Could end up having to use Ajeti and Henderson if thing go against us.

    Agree.

Again shows why quality depth is needed. Only one or two injuries away from an issue.

Tbf he was injured a lot up till he was about 24, from about 2015-2020, before start of last season he was hardly ever out of the team or injured so certainly not made of chocolate just been unlucky over last season with a bad injury, hopefully back soon
