Played very good today, there could still be a consistent Celtic player in there.

Will always flatter to deceive. I think a few here are getting conned again, he's been better in the last couple of games agreed but the nagging issues still remain, throwing his arms in the air, poor decision making, questionable technique etc. As soon as the ink is dry on the new deal he's itching for he will be back to his bench warming, can't be arsed best. Should have let him go.

You do know we probably need another winger right, not letting one go?

That touch after his goal to get by the left back was unreal by the way, then unlucky with the deflected shot and keeper. Could've went anywhere..

Think he pegged the same boy second half but outside of the foot shot was never curling enough..

Had some really good moments today..

It's not a numbers game. Quality trumps quantity. I'd take one Paddy Roberts over 2 Jamesy's any day. Should have let him go as he's been horrendous for far too long & brought in someone else. Mark my words the guy will not kick on from here. A few good games then he'll drop in & out & play when it suits him. Surely we've all seen this movie before? Umpteen times!

I'm bored defending him now. I think he is good enough for our 25 man squad and others don't. C'est la vie.

My thoughts on Forrest have always been pretty clear, the toxic situation surrounding him seems to be gradually disappearing. He'll sign a new contract and will be a valuable player for us, pretty simple.

Good goal and good performance. But who cares he flicks his hair the odd time or some other bollocks like that.

The wee *, * stopped to fix his socks right after he scored, should have been getting back into position for the kick off. * hate the ways he runs btw.

Agreed. Put a sub-clause in his new contract to vanish that monstrosity.

He has had injuries and some bad managers. Maybe Brendan will get the best out of him, play him in the right position and increase his confidence. Saying that he has been a gutless little * for years now.

His touch was superb yesterday, Easing past players and the way he scored was brillant. Hopefully he continues and like this and it'll be one less position we need to strengthen.

Looking like James is very much a part of Rodgers' plans. He's all about speed and counter-attacking in Europe. Roberts won't be here next year. He's showing a bit of form, too.

James Forrest in talks over new deal at Celtic

The winger’s agent will jet into Glasgow for a meeting with Peter Lawwell in a bid to clinch a new deal for the 25-year-old, who is out of contract in January.

Celts last held discussions with him and his adviser at the end of last season.

However, after negotiations stalled it looked certain that the Scotland star would be on his way OUT of Parkhead.

But Forrest has hugely impressed Brendan Rodgers since he replaced Ronny Deila. And the attacker has told the Hoops boss he’d love to stay at the club and be part of his plans.

Rodgers was full of praise for Forrest after he scored the opener in Sunday’s Premiership win at Hearts.

He said: “Since pre-season, he has been absolutely first class.

“He’s starting to understand that he has to press the game and be aggressive — and you saw that a couple of times against Hearts.

“And, as a winger, he has to create and score goals — and he created the opportunity with good skill in the first part and it was a wonderful finish.

“He wants to stay, so it’s between the agent and the club now to arrange that.”

Talks will take place this afternoon in the hope an agreement can be reached before the weekend.
