He is a cracking prospect right now. Nothing more. When all is said and done, he is not Aiden McGeady. Not yet anyway.

We should wait for another couple of years and see how he ends up. I'd happily take £5m for him right now and even that's probably pushing it.

2-3 million would be ridiculous the sum would have to be close to 10 million to compel the board to sell a player we have on a five year contract and who is one of the best prospects in europe at the minute.

You have to be joking mate. I know he's one of our own and all that, but he's not even one of the best prospects in Britain right now, never mind the whole of Europe.

I love the wee guy, but people are putting too much pressure on him to succeed at such a young age. He has talent and bags of potential, but is yet unproven outside of Scottish football.

that same inconsistent twenty year old that has been our most consistent and best performer the whole season , including in europe. james forrest is one of the biggest young talents in british football , every big clubs scout that was at the u21 match the other night will have james forrests name in their notepads believe you me . a better crosser than mcgeady , and goes past a player easier than mcgeady did . and ALOT faster than mcgeady aswell ...speed is the essential element when deciding when a good player can make it at the highest level. ridiculous to be disregarding his talent and worth in that way.

is that the mentality of the support these days ..we have the best young scottish player in a generation jinking on the wing , beating a man , whipping in crosses...and you want to sell him . the dream is to have a team full of young scottish talent , and selling forrest would be a disgrace. fair enough if we are offered ten mill and the board make the difficult decision to sell because we need the money , then id have to unhappily accept it as business. but to get excited about it and say you would take him yourself grinds my gears....its this " footy manager 12 " mentality of being excited about having money to spend. i would rather try and get an excellent homegrown team toigether, with forrest starring alongside wott, keatings , irvine , chalmers and mxgeough in three years.

top post, really hope we can keep hold of him and start bringing through more youngsters it would be great to see a Celtic team that was mainly academy players at some point.

The willingness of some to just roll over and let other clubs have their way with us is depressing.

Bit random, when did Adam get transferred for 10 million after 1 good season?

Anyways, on topic, he is flying just now but is 2 bad games away from being labelled a dud on here.

There has to be less knee * rubbish every time someone has a good or bad game or a run of them.

He had one good season in the EPL with Blackpool and left for 9 million, close enough. By the way I'm not saying I'd like to sell Forrest but no one will offer that sort of money either way at this moment.

He was Blackpool's best player for 2 seasons, their captain and someone who scored and created a load of goals in the Championship and the EPL.

His fee was also nowhere near 10 million.

it was around the 7m-9m mark. Blackpool's best player for the season in a less superior league to the one he was at in his second season. Good player don't get me wrong but I don't think hes showed enough of himself to make me think he's good enough for Liverpool although hes not the only one. Plus he created and scored those goals in a poor side and with one or two others was their only good player, that makes me think twice if he can do it for Liverpool. Anyway this is getting off topic so won't say anymore

I sometimes wonder why people seem so keen on selling players like Forrest and Ki, yet seem suicidal at the thought of McCourt being sold... Strange.

100% agree - Forrest is at least 10 times the player McCourt is.

Another wee veiled dig at the Irish aspect of the club, at least you are consistent :50:

Anyway we wouldn't get anywhere near £10m for him just now, but there isn't any reason here can't become a £10m player, he isn't as tricky as Aiden but he's direct, has pace, and can score goals.

What more do you wan't really

If his name was Forchenko he would be worth that money it took McGeady years to reach the value of £10mill and the * you see going to and from epl clubs for £20million couldn't lace Aidens boots the thing is our board are penny pinching * and if £5Million came in for Forrest Lennon wouldn't have a say in it.
