James Forrest, all chat in here.

Discussion in 'Celtic Chat' started by danrik, Oct 15, 2011.

  1. McGeady deserves a mention, IMO.

  2. I know what list I'm checking in Football Manager the night :56:

  3. Liverpool meant to have been watching him last night .

  4. Aye hes the 2nd best. Think Forrest will surpass him as he's a smarter player than McGeady. If McGeady could read the game like Forrest he could be world class but he plays with his head down too much.

  5. Forrest will be better than McGeady IMO.

  6. how the * did danny wilson (hardly played a min of football) and weiss get on that list

Danny Wilson had just got a move to Liverpool after some great performances for the huns. Weiss had a great loan spell at Bolton and played well at the World Cup.

    That list is last years.

  8. Still Beelin' from the Healy 'tackle'. A 32 year old man on a 20 year old boy. * animal.

  9. to think this is really his 1st full season and his age.whats he going to be like if we let him develop and not ruin him by dropping him or forcing him to play positions hes not comfortable with to make room for the likes of brown

  10. a didn't realise that till like 2 mins ago :56: also seen they said that adam matthews was unlucky not to be on it

Some of the Spurs fans really seem to rate him and want him in. They have a thread on him called 'James Forrest - Right Footed Bale'.

Junior Hoilett at around the same price £7-8m would be a much better deal for them.

  13. I love Forrest, my favourite player at the moment. But McGeady has a higher ceiling imo. You won't see a player with McGeady's technique come out of this club again never mind this country for a long, long time.

Forrest though, let me stress, is a phenomenal talent.

  14. think your wrong on that one mate if we nurture and develop paul george in the right way he could surpass both mcgeady and forrest

  15. Probably agree with this.

Think Forrest is just that little bit too dependent on pace/acceleration where as McGeady had flair to go along with it.

Don't get me wrong, I'm loving Forrest's stratospheric rise but I've not bought into him being better than McGeady.......yet....

  16. Theres no such thing as just "technique".

There are several techniques to the game, McGeady beats Forrest on touch, ball control and dribbling. But Forrest beats McGeady at passing, crossing and shooting. Forrest also has better intelligence of the game than McGeady, better timing, reactions, vision and reading of the play/positioning. McGeady is fitter and faster but that will improve with Forrest the more he plays and we'll probably see the effects of it next season.

  17. Forrrest isnt dependant on pace. As hes a very intelligent player who can shoot, pass and cross.

McGeady id say is the one who is dependent on pace, stamina and dribbling, because in order for him to create or score goals he needs many attempts and relies on his tireless running up and down the wing passing players and atttempting shots and crosses.

Forrest doesn't work half as hard as McGeady as he more naturally gifted at knowing when and how to get things done imo

  18. Agree with that.
I remember watching an analysis on Barcelona and it showed just how little they ran, compared to other teams. Not out of laziness, but poisitioning and intelligence.

  19. I think Forrest is a different player to McGeady and has until now had to do a lot more of work himself. He doesnt have the flair of McGeady but he seems to be a lot more direct and gets himself into a lot better positions than McGeady. Forrest cuts in at any opportunity and has a go, while I think McGeady was often guilty of skinning 3 people while drifting out wide and then losing it, or crossing.

I also agree with the consensus above that Forrest is a more intelligent player. He creates more space and he pulls opposition defences all over the park as he cuts in a lot more and often plays in the middle of the park. McGeady had more trickery but tended to stick out wide.

  20. I think one thing people forget when comparing McGeady and Fortest is Forrest is playing in a team with far more movement in it, with more reliable players to feed into goal.
