This wee man's going to a star, even bigger than McGeady, who has hit his peak right now. Said it, right at the start of this post, and he is proving me more right, as every week passes :50:

I hope he surpasses McGeady but he is nowhere near him at the moment. I also don't think McGeady has peaked at the ripe old age of 24.

Nah dev, I've saw some cracking wingers at Parkhead over the years, Jinky right through to Wee Forrest, and I just know, this wee man is extra special, and I know what your saying now, about McGeady only being 24, but I feel he has been around too long now to climb any further. Don't get me wrong devlin mate, I really rated McGeady, infact I still do rate him, but I still say Forrest is presently a better player than Aiden :50:

Forrest is good but he does have a bad game in every 3 or 4.

He will climb much further, the rave reviews he has been getting in Russia proves that for me.

Forrest has a long way to go just now until he is at Aiden's level but what he has over Aiden at the moment is a goal threat, something McGeady didn't really have. However Forrest doesn't have McGeady's skill or workrate. He doesn't effect the full game as much as McGeady did, Forrest is more of a on the fringes and then effecting in short bursts.

I think he will be something special as well but to compare him to someone like Aiden at the moment is premature. Once we get back into the Champions League and he effects big games like then he will progress a bit and he may go on to be even better.

Right now he is a very special talent, who needs to smooth the edges of his game and apply himself off the ball a wee bit more and to think about his teamates a bit more as well.

Such a great little player and can only get better, I wouldn't even accept 10m for him right now.

Although I know the board would.

Forrest is a very different kind of player to Aidan. He doesnt have Aidan's amazing showman dribbling skills but he has fast feet and is better than Aidan was at that sort of age because he is direct, can shoot, has lots of goals in him, is a good team player and has a good football brain. Forrest has all the attributes of a perfect winger. All he needs is a little more consistency. The only problem with Forrest is if he ever loses his pace he will be a lot less effective.

I wouldn't say he was a good team player either.

Thats one part of his game that i think he is overly critisized for. If anything sometimes he can be far to passive and pass the ball when he should be having a go himself. Even today he showed his passing vision when he passed up a good shot to put a goal on a plate for ki. Certainly if we are comparing him to mcgeady he is much more generous and less selfish with the ball than mcgeady was at that age.

At a funeral a few years back my mate bumped into Lennon when he was a coach under Mowbray. It was around the time the rumors of Mcgeady leaving were surfacing and when he slyly asked him about it Lennon apparently just said "nothing to worry about, james forrest will be about soon." I hadn't even heard of the wee man back then. Well before his first team appearance.

well then that wouldn't really be him getting beat, maybe you are thinking about this differently than me but for me a fullback getting beat is when a man runs at him and either through trickery or pace gets by. Getting "beat" for me implies blame and there would be none for the fullback in the situation you described.

Anyway, while your theory is right in principle in the spl it usually won't matter. We usually deal with quick counter attacks in which the wingers won't be able to help, the only thing they can do is track back when a fullback overlaps them and is out of position, Forrest does a decent enough job of this and doesn't get enough credit for the work he does off the ball. In big games he also ups his workrate, in the only old firm he started last year he didn't contribute much offenisvely but his workrate was superb.

Didn't mean in that manner mate, on the ball Forrest is fantastic. It's off the ball he needs to think more about his team mates.
