Go Ahead Eagles have rejected a £1.5million offer from Celtic for Danish winger Jakob Breum.
The Parkhead club are in the market for wide men after selling Nicholas Kuhn to Como for £17m and losing the services of the injured Jota until early next year.
An offer for 21-year-old right sided attacker Breum fell well below the Dutch club’s valuation of £5million.
Fighting off interest in Breum and midfielder Oliver Antman club director Jan Willem van Dop spoke of an offer from a ‘foreign club’ for the former earlier this month. Herald Sport understands the club in question was Celtic.
“The only thing that is going on and as far as we are concerned are the unsuccessful moves,” said Van Dop in an interview with RTTV Oost. “There has been a bid for Jakob Breum from a foreign club
We are so far apart there. You have to stand your ground. He may have to realise that it could be very good to stay with us at least until the winter break, just like Oliver Edvardsen.”
Breum moved to the Netherlands from Odense two years ago. Insisting that he had no intention of losing his coveted duo for a ‘pittance’ Van Dop added: “We think that Breum and Antman should be allowed to leave for more than six million (£5million). If that doesn’t happen with this club, then maybe another one will come. And if not, then we hope that with all the positive feelings they have, they will stay with us and go into Europe. Then we will see during the winter break.”

This bid was rejected in June. He was probably alternative to Nygren maybe
-
Genuinely offer them £10m and will take both. Go buy Serginho from Viborg for €4m. That’s three in for the money we got for Kuhn and you still have about £3m towards a centre half or that Nazinho.

June the 17th
Go Ahead Eagles presents Melvin Boel as Paul Simonis' successor this afternoon. Around that time, director Jan Willem van Dop reiterates that a bid has so far been made for only one player. Celtic made an offer - which was too low - for Jakob Breum
So unless Stephen has gotten more information he’s got it from the HB after it was mentioned last nightBangarangura likes this. -
Aye, sounds like this guy was an alternative to Nygren, weird the news is being regurgitated now.

Honestly we are a * take with these shocking low offers! Lad had a great season in Holland and we offer next to * all!
Rated at 5 million as well. -

He can also play wide, tbf.
£1.5m is a bit of an insult. We really need to get a shift on, now. -
-
Knowing the asking price is £5m, we will slowly, over the course of months, increase our bid by a few hundred thousand at a time.
Literally something we do often.

Insulting offer.
15 goals/assists in 26 league games. 21 years old.
Should be offering at the very minimum £3.5m for him, first bid.thailandceltic likes this. -
The Celtic way, start off low and gradually up the bid until he goes elsewhere. #triedandfailed
