I wouldn't say it's weird as its not an unknown thing to you but seeing as you don't believe I don't really get it.

By you being raised catholic and now not believing I take it you don't agree with the church.

What happens when she asks questions when she's older and you and the church have differing opinions on it? Do you tell her you're wrong or the church is wrong or what?

Catholicism is about more than believing in *, its about how to live your life in the right manner, it can teach you life lessons, you don't have to believe in an omnipotent being to learn these lessons by living in that surrounding. Plenty of people send their kids to catholic school who aren't christian because they know of the benefits of that kind of upbringing.

The only question I'd ask is: are you sure you're an atheist?

Apart from that, whae gies a *? The kid probably won't give a rats about religion either so no harm done.

Best hedge your bets Sean because you might be wrong. By bringing them into religion they have the option to stick with it or not.

At least this way you have given them a good foundation because no matter what you think at the heart of religion is a really pure message. The * bits a bit more of a metaphor in my eyes but that's only my opinion.

Original poster, I'd do exactly the * same.

I am a Catholic but not for one second do I actually believe any of the * pish about angels and faeries and water into wine and * any of it. It's all *. But by *, my children will be raised * Catholic whether they like it or not.

We'll still go to mass at holidays of obligation. Well, the big ones. Easter and Christmas. And occasional Sundays when everyone's up early and bored. They'll dae their first communion and confirmation and if they ever question any of the tenets of the Church, I'll tell them THE POPE IS INFALLIBLE NOW * UP.

It's not about what you believe, it's about culture, and tradition, and hating proddies. * Bless the Pope and * the Queen.
