Is this transfer window going to be another reshaping job?

  1. :smiley-laughing002: aye, don't know what the score is with Lennon and Balde, Mabie he doesn't try in training or something.
It's bad days though when a the 2 centre backs have 1 less goal than the 2 new strikers.

  2. Clear as day he's rusty aswell as raw, probably can't be trusted right now otherwise he'd have been in..
Well documented and pretty much has been said by Lenny already..

  3. If still rather get a lip now and save the cash on his wages

  4. We'll bring in another few 'raw projects' that'll warm the bench and if we're lucky * Leigh Griffiths

  5. We have money but I really doubt Lennon will sign anyone of any note until the summer
Think we will look for yet another loan signing who was that Polish guy we signed on loan from Turkey the other season? he was shocking

  6. Brozek

  7. i really hope not, every * and their dog can see our team is * crying out for some one to get the fans excited.
If lenny signs another * to sit on the bench then * help us.:31:

  8. I think if we can get someone on the cheap or free then we might bring them in. And if we lose Forster, Ledley or Samaras, then we would have to be seen to replace whoever leaves. That said, I do not believe for a second we will be improving the first team and I do not believe our net spend will be any more than a million or so and that is assuming we don't keep all three of the above.

That said, I actually don't think there is much value in splashing the cash in January. We have missed the boat and we have nothing else to play for this season. If we are going to sign a real striker then it should be done properly in the summer - not in January when players are over priced and there aren't as many to chose from.

  9. I would like to sign Griffiths, he has a real energy that our other strikers don't have. Kinda like a cross between Stokes and Kenny Miller if you like.

  10. I would say this window is as important as WGS last window and the board * it up let's hope they back the manager this time. Fingers crossed they have learnt from the last time we need to bed in players for next seasons champions league and this will be the best chance to do so.

  11. the problem is the players currently playing week in, week out arent there on merit, some players have dropped a couple of levels because they know they will be on the team sheet

  12. Major shake up needed :fear:

  13. The problem Celtic will have in this transfer window is the same
as we have in most the players we want don't want us , or their
club still wants them. Finnbogason was never going to sign for
us in the last window . 4 EPL teams and a good German team were
after him and they could not prise him away . Let some people
called Lennon and Lawwell on the names of the day .
If anyone can name a successful manager three years or longer at
a club and who hasn't sign some duds , I would like to know him .

  14. I don't think they'll spend enough to really re-shape the team.

I'd expect very, very, very little to be spent this transfer window. Every hint has been made that there will be no expensive signings or marquee signings.

I think they'll sign a few gambles on cheap and a few youngsters. All players that will need to be broke into the team slowly.

This transfer window will be extremely uneventful, with the exception of players leaving and not being replaced.

  15. Despite all of lennons talk i dont think we will see many players coming in,maybe the odd project...wooohoooo.

Celtic need new players, admits Lennon

Celtic manager Neil Lennon says his squad needs to get freshened up in the January transfer market after his side put in a "flat" performance in a 1-0 home win over Partick Thistle on Wednesday. The Hoops secured their eighth consecutive win in the Scottish Premiership to maintain their 11-point lead at the top of the table.

It was the third consecutive 1-0 win for Celtic, who have now gone 19 games unbeaten in the league and haven't conceded in their past seven domestic matches. However, the Hoops manager said he expected better performances from his side, who will now face St Mirren on Sunday before taking a two-week winter break from domestic duties.

"We were flat, there is no question of that. We looked tired and we lacked a spark particularly in the final third," said Lennon, whose team have also won at St Johnstone and Inverness Caledonian Thistle over the festive period.

"There were some good bits of play but I, and the supporters, expect better. We had a poor second half in Perth and Inverness and today there has been a flatness. It looks like things are catching up with some of the players. We need this break and we are very heavy legged and they are mentally tired."

"There is no question that the squad needs freshening up with an injection of new blood. We will endeavour to do that as it's starting to show a wee bit in our play. We will get better - there's no question about that. We're just going through a very tough period of games at the minute. Mentally it has taken its toll as well as physically."

"I think we are in a decent position financially where we can look to bring players in. I think the squad is thin and if we pick up a couple of injuries we look light for us. In terms of comparisons to other teams in the league we are still very strong but in terms of where I want to take the team and moving the club forward I think we need another injection of quality and that takes a bit of money."

"I am determined to bring players in to make the squad better in the latter half of the season to give some of the players, who have been magnificent for us this season, a hand."

Joe Ledley scored the only goal of the game in the Glasgow derby against Partick Thistle in the 39th minute for his fourth goal of the season. The Welsh midfielder is out of contract in the summer and has been linked with a move away from Celtic Park.

However, Lennon said he was hopeful Ledley would sign a new deal with the Scottish champions. "I've spoken to Joe over a number of weeks but it's certainly not affected his performances. I thought he was our best player today by a considerable margin," the Celtic manager said."

"I want Joe to stay and he has shown great mental strength as it must be a very unsettling period for him. He has intimated that he would like to stay and we are hoping that we can speak to his representatives this week and get that finalised."

"He has been an important player for me and the club and he gives us a stability that we need. I can't have all the players leaving for big money or bringing players in to develop for a couple of years. I need a spine of players to stay together - the likes of Scott Brown, Ledley and a few others like Kris Commons and Georgios Samaras - as they have been big players for us."

  16. I think it will set the ground for the summer, prob see exits to be replaced in June.

  17. He can say he wants to spend all he wants but Lawwell and co arent going to give him much more than a fiver. He did the same last season. Tight *

  18. Nothing new in my comment here but a creative midfielder is essential surely. There have been some brutally boring games of football this season and some entertaining football would be absolutely delightful. I thought the recent use of diamond formation would bring about change after 7-0 and 5-0 but it seems we're back at square one. It's great we're unbeaten but it's been tough to watch at times.

So a nice creative midfielder, and (needless to say) a striker wouldn't go amiss. I would love to see a statistic of how many goals have been scored by Stokes, Pukki and Balde combined this season.
I'm very happy with defense though. VVD is fantastic and Lustig is my player of the team. Great to have Izzy back to his best lately too.

  19. See some people asking for 'big money' to be spent - glory hunters - Commons was only £300,000
