When we have not fully announced who our next manager will be? With the Steven Reid story out in the open now with Reid discussing a move to CP surely this aint right?
This leads to some questions of the board and what exactly is going on at Celtic right now.
What do you guys think?
Personllay i don't think we should be trying to sign players when we haven't even announced who our next manager is yet. The new guy will surely come in with plans of his own and what players he likes and not what certain board members want to see at CP.
Surely this is a little strange....... Could this cause problems even before the new guy is in place?

Ok it could be that they have already got the new guy and he has pointed to players he already wants but if that is the case announce the guy, get him in now.
At the end of the day it is for the best for the club at the end of the day and Neil Lennon would agree to that.
Why wait until after this game? Not as if it is important. The season is over, Lenny has had the chance to say his goodbyes at CP already etc if that is the case. Plus he beat Rangers at CP so lets get the next stage moving. The summer is over real fast and before we know it the enw season will be upon us.
We need to be 100% ready as this is a rebuilding job.Last edited by a moderator: May 18, 2010 -

It does seem a little odd, you would think they would confirm the manager first then he would identify players !
-
peculiar business. I'm almost 100% certain we wouldn't sign anyone, even free agents without the approval of a manager. It may well be that a manager is in place but can't quite take the job yet but has identified targets. Either that or they have decided after 10 days sitting around doing * all to give it to Lennon
-
Hope it's not true, another mediocre player. Couldn't cut it at Blackburn so * are the board thinking. No ambition.

Just typical transfer rumours I'd imagine.
As for Reid, he could cut it at Blackburn if it wasn't for injuries. Man U wanted him at one stage. -

pure media speculation in my oppinion... it isnt hard to see how they (the sun i believe) found a link to steven reid and celtic. especially with his contract being up in the summer, time of year, possible new manager etc. i wouldnt look too much into what you read in the paper. but if it were to be true then is lennon right to already be looking at potential signings? yes.
Edit: Seems the story has some truth! Just read article on sky sports news... my badLast edited by a moderator: May 18, 2010 -
To those saying he isn't good enough - he isn't an average player at all - very good, box to box midfielder who has been unlucky with a few injuries. Bear in mind the fact that Man Utd were looking at him for a while. He also has a cracking shot on himLast edited by a moderator: May 18, 2010 -

It's not really manager chat. This is about are the board signing players with no manager at the helm. I see it could be said it is manager related but this is a serious issue if in fact this is the case.
It needs to be discussed surely and not lost in amongst thousands of other posts shouitng names about who they want as celtics next boss? :bbpd:
Back to discussion: Just because Man Utd looked at him doesn't mean he will be a very good player. His track record so far doesn't really set the ehather alight. Injury prone player who when fit still couldn't get into the Blackburn team.
Man U look at dozens of players every week. Doesn't make them good players.Last edited by a moderator: May 18, 2010 -

Don't really understand it myself. From what I read in the paper it was Lennon that supposedly put the suggestion about Reid forward in the first place.
Does that mean Lennon WILL be the manager next season or? Unless it's all media speculation.
Regardless, would like to see a manager in first before new players are being picked up. Just seems too messy the now. -

Nah mate i know what you mean but same could be said with nearly all posts then in here. :56: Love the sig by the way. make it yourself?
Not looking to cause bother i just feel it is rather odd this is happening. I really hope that Celtic do not mess this up by signing players first then getting a manager in.
If a manager has been got yet, This could put off potential suiters. -

6 goals in 110 Blackburn apperances, 29 goals in 320 appearances for club and country. Just what we need, another non scoring midfielder.

I think it's a rumour we've been hearing all about players coming hear since the 1st week Lenny was here.I think the media are just looking for any sort of story because the seasons finished and they aren't getting any good info on Huns debt or our new manager.

We also have the problem of low scoring strikers still at the club and will most likely still be there next * season too.
