While in Donegal go and see Sliabh Liag and the Grianan of Aileach ring fort. Sliabh Liag are the tallest cliffs in Europe if you count Ireland as part of Europe. Both places are great to just bring something to eat and walk about and enjoy the scenery. In Donegal Town go to Doms Pier 1 restaurant for a fantastic meal. There is a beach that is just outside of this world near Glencolmcille called The Silver Strand. I cant really think of any other beach thats really quite like it. Its like a horseshoe shaped carved out of the rock and crystal clear water. Oh and be sure to go and see Letterkenny. Its a great place to just walk around. Nice shops and such, if you have a missus. St Eunans Cathedral is beautiful and a great place to go to chapel, if you're religious at all. Love Donegal and I miss it a lot. Im going there when I get married next summer.

Dundalk seems a certain now. My mate knows people there so he's wanting to catch up with them. Oh well, I hear the corrs are from there :icon_mrgreen:

Donegal looks good but we're not going that far west this time.

Also a trip up the Falls Road and through to Andytown, with a stop at Milltown Cem, if your into republican history

For a great scenic route head to Downpatrick, then on to Killough and from Killough take the coast road to Newcastle, if it's a clear day you will get spectacular views of the Mournes

If you're staying east, take the M50 that orbits Dublin and come off southbound. Head for the Old Military road which goes over the Wicklow Mountains.

And if you do that, head for Glendalough, which is nearby:

:50: I was only kidding, the only good thing about Dundalk is the racing on a Friday night.

I lived in Blessington in Wicklow for 6 years. Wicklow is a beautiful place!

I didnt read that part of his post where he said that he was mostly staying out east.

Definitely go and see Kilkenny. Its just a really nice city with great people.

If you're into castles and touristy stuff like that there are a lot of beautiful castles there like Kilkenny Castle, Jerpoint Abbey, and the Black Abbey. There's a lot of history there too. The Normans built walls around the city in the 1200s to protect the town. Not much is left of the walls, though, except for a tower, I think its called Talbot, or something.

The beer they have there is some amazing stuff. Kilkenny Cream Ale. I love it.
