I seen the same thing about him being on loan, if lawwell thinks he will get away with this without some kind of outcry from the support then we deserve everything we get.

If this guy comes its an emergency for next week(if he's eligible)..

I'm sure he's not the only striker that will sign if that's the case..

I smell bullshit on this one though

Siena Admit Celtic Interest In Striker

Innocent Emeghara - SienaCeltic’s hunt for a new striker has led them to one of the breakout stars of Serie A last year in Siena forward Innocent Emeghara.

The Swiss star caught the eye big time after scoring seven goals between January and the end of the season but it was not enough to prevent the Bianconeri from falling out of the division.

Sporting director Stefano Antonelli has admitted the Bhoys interest but insists they are behind Livorno in a race to secure his signature.

He said: “We have our expectations of Emeghara but the transfer market says different because it is one with not a lot of money going around.

“There are lots of ideas and a lack of willingness not to mention when clubs talk to us they know our financial position. Livorno and another 24 clubs have asked about him but they are the most serious about him, only two are like that, Livorno and Celtic.”

Antonelli also admitted that they are only awaiting Gianluca Pegolo to agree personal terms with Torino to join them and are looking to sell a further three first teamers including Alessandro Rosina.

    Innocent Emeghara a Celts target

CELTIC have entered the race to sign Siena’s £3million-rated striker Innocent Emeghara.

However, Hoops boss Neil Lennon faces stiff competition from Serie A newcomers Livorno to land the Nigeria-born Swiss international.

Siena, relegated to Serie B at the end of last season, are resigned to losing lightning-quick Emeghara, who has also attracted interest from Basle and Torino.

Siena have been locked in talks with Livorno all week and want a decision on the 24-year-old’s future by the weekend, leaving Celtic with work to do if they are to avoid missing out on another target.

Recent bids for Schalke’s Teemu Pukki, Heerenveen’s Alfred Finnbogason and Werder Bremen’s Marko Arnautovic have all failed.

Siena general manager Stefano Antonelli confirmed Celtic were in the hunt and that clubs are trying to cash in on Siena’s lowly status to grab the player for a rock-bottom fee.

Antonelli said: “Twenty-four clubs have asked about the player but most have the same approach.

“Livorno is the most advanced at this stage but then today comes Celtic.

“On Emeghara we have expectations, but the market speaks a different language because it is a market with very little money.

“There are lots of ideas and then a lack of willingness, not to mention that when they come to talk to Siena they do know the real problems facing our club.”

    Stefano Antonelli
Emeghara arrived at Siena on loan from French side Lorient in January and scored seven goals in 17 games as the Italians battled in vain to avoid the drop.

The club then took up the option to sign him permanently, but with money tight a decent offer will persuade them to sell him on.

Emeghara had been sold on staying in Italy but Celtic’s entry into the race could change his view, particularly if they firm up their interest in the next 24 hours.

Emeghara first came to prominence at Grasshopper Club Zurich.

A £2m move to Lorient and international honours for his adopted nation then followed and now – after a brief stay at Siena – he is set to be on the move again.

Celtic are eager to deliver some good news to their frustrated fans after losing 2-0 in the first leg of their Champions League play-off with Shakhter Karagandy.

The squad returned to Glasgow yesterday afternoon with their tails between their legs after a dismal show in Kazakhstan which has placed a huge question mark against their chances of making the Champions League proper.

The sales of Gary Hooper, Victor Wanyama and Kelvin Wilson left the bank manager smiling, but Lennon’s side short of experience and quality in key areas of the park.

No idea who he is, but this is probably a more realistic prospect than Alfie now.

I'm swiss and know this guy a little...

I pray that we don't buy him. I remember myself thinking while he was playing for switzerland for the first time: "Jeeez... that dude can't even stop a ball".

Would be another Fortunè. Kinda fast, kinda useless though.

I'd rather look for someone phisically strong.

I'm not overly keen on these deals to buy half a player for 2million euros. It's really a 4million euros deal. Could be good up front with all that pace.

It's got sting written all over it though, 7 goals in 17 games can hide a lot of ineptitudes.

"Emeghara arrived at Siena on loan from French side Lorient in January and scored seven goals in 17 games as the Italians battled in vain to avoid the drop.

The club then took up the option to sign him permanently, but with money tight a decent offer will persuade them to sell him on."

Why would you pay 2.5million to offload him straight away?

Also he was loaned out by Lorient because they thought he was *:)

So for the first 7 games at Lorient, he couldn't even get a place on the bench.
Game number 8 he comes on as sub in the 72nd minute - 76th minute he gets a straight red card.

Then he doesn't even get a place on the bench for the next 10, game 11 he gets on the bench - doesn't play.

We'd be far better off playing Watt and really trying to make a player out of him.

To be fair, Aliadiere couldn't get a game for us and is now one of Lorient's best players & was one of Ligue 1's top scoters last season.

He has a decent scoring record.

French football is the polar opposite of Scottish Football as well.

You've just judged him purely on stats there, which is always a silly thing to do

Don't know why, but I am really underwhelmed by this. And I haven't even seen the guy play, so I've not a clue how good or bad I would rate him. Just not excited about the prospect of signing him for some reason.

No, he had half a good season. The only one on a decent level.

I just don't see him score for us on a regular basis, I d'ont even see him scoring 15+ a year. For me, absolutely a no go.

Devlin, i watched the video and i thought, he can chase lost causes and win the ball, wow he's got that way of controlling the ball where you take the touch in mid-air and it kills the ball dead - a good touch. Then someone who's watched him says he's got a * touch, we don't see that on the video, that * gets edited out.

I think this is what i had in mind with going with two strong guys up front - someone to work well with Balde. It could work. But, he's not even 5ft 6.

I'm just trying to investigate the guy a bit more.

He scored 4 goals in four games to begin with in Italy, everything was peaches and cream. Then he followed that up with 3 in 13 and he played almost every game from the start.

Ligue 1 in France 5 goals in 27 games
In the swiss league he scored 9 in 33 - but he had 9 assists.

So here's what i think. In Switzerland he played a slightly different position, when he moved to a small club in a bigger league he played striker and was inconsistent, he moved to another top league and was inconsistent again.

If you go from signing a guy like Finnbogason to this guy - you need your head examined.

He was the guy to get goals to keep Siena up, he didn't get them and they went down.

I want a player who has played in a successful team, who is getting a minimum of 15 goals. It's not to much to ask for. This isn't a champions league level player, this is an SPL level player and those don't have to cost 4million euros.

So if you look at a player who i had suggested Bard Finne - he plays in Norway and has scored 11 in 18 and he has signed to go to play in Cologne on a free transfer in January.

So who would be the better signing? The future star for the Norwegian national team or a guy who's went from team to team and they all judged him as being kinda *, but someone they could cash in on.

I could give you a list of players like this and we aren't trying to sign any of them, because we are looking at the wrong teams in the wrong leagues.

It's simple to understand, but absolutely mystifying at the same time.
