ASCII is a 8 bit character encoding, a 100 character sentence will take up 100 Bytes where as 1 kB is 1024 Bytes.

This thread is a bundle of laughs, get Athony in here. Whatever people accuse him of, he can light up a thread.

There's a thing on the profile page, bottom left.
It's called referrals. Is that anything to do with infractions or being reported?

It would be sensible for the few people that use dial-ups to just just disable signatures. :87:

You would be suprised at the number of people who are still on dial up since they rarely use their computer for anything other than e-mails/general news browsing. YouTube still runs fine on 56K too so that's the entertainment aspect sorted (sort of)

Given phones are capable of doing that more and more efficiently these days and wi-fi can outstrip dialup they would rather go with that now rather than pay more for a fixed line they're hardly going to use. If it's mobile broadband then even better.

Sad I know all this but I did work in broadband-selling companies heh.

I can honestly say I don't. I'm thinking 'slap on the wrist' but no idea in general.

A referral is when you invite someone to the site

Like if you said to your mate
    "I know a good Celtic site, talkceltic.net"

And if he joins and puts you as his 'referrer' then you would have Referrals: 1

    It's a good thing

Do you think that this is the relevant thread to ask that question?

Yes, I did, as I thought it might be something to do with bans.

Now I realise it's not, but if I ddn't ask I would have no way of knowing. I also, didnt want to start a thread on something that might turn out to very trivial. I couldnt find anything in the rules and as not everything s mentioned n the rules, I thought t might be important.

So, yes I stand by my initial asking.

This thread has little to do with bans, its about signature rule violations.

I still thought it might be connected. I am as yet unacquainted with all the corridors of nuance running through the vrtual building of TC, so I thought it better to ask here, as I reckoned there was a good chance it would be relevant rather than starting a thread on it or pm-ing people.

Now I know. I won't bring it up again. One never knows until one asks, and being too shy to ask wil never bring an answer knocking at your door. That's the way I see it.

Called 'invisible mode', people don't know you're online but the mods can still see me *waves*

I turn it on by default through habit. Also my light is red [/pointless fact]

    ????

Seems a really daft thread to start in the first place, considering ite the administrator who can set the maximum file dimension and sizes for each user-group......if this was set properly in the first place, am i not right in thinking they would receive an error message, telling them there signature was too large, well thats what it does on any of my VBulletin forums......As for bandwidth, a forum this size should have unlimited???why hasn't it??

secondly, u can disable images, from signatures avatars etc in your CP so people with dialup-just go do that eh.......

oh and for the dial up people- FECKIN GET BROADBAND!

That is set but it doesnt seem to be working properly at all and its set regardless of usergroup
