OK I didn't read a sticky, that's it. What I did read was this, when adding my signature.

"Note: The maximum size of your custom image is 500 by 100 pixels or 19.5 KB (whichever is smaller)."

might want to change that, that's where most people get their sig size from.

I'm done with it. I posted peoples names and I'm sorry for that, it was out of line and I hate people who grass (yes, right now I hate myself a little). I guess my anger got the better of me that time. Apologies to those I listed.

 

Dunno if that can be changed, its a vBulletin thing but our rules are different. If you read our rules and did what they said, you wouldn't have been infracted. If you actually cared about the rules, you would have questioned that difference when uploading your signature

No signature that was infracted was less than 20kB either

 

It can be changed and is changed on most forums which don't allow sigs over a certain size.

I didn't read the stickies, I said that already, so why would I care about a sticky? As far as I knew I was doing nothing wrong. LIke I said in my post above, I'm done with it. So please don't try and come back with another sarcy comment.

50kb or under 300x100, which ever is smaller fair enough, but how to you know the size of text in KBs? As it stands my sig is 299x100 but how many pixels is in a single letter or number?
would writting "hi" under my sig make it another bannable offence?

ALthough from what Dempsey said to me I undesrtood that it was the lines or spaces between lines that made it bigger, not letters as such.

 

see thats what i don't get, technically your sig is what ever height the pic is, plus about 1000pixels because of the text?, but obviously if all that text was squashed up i doubt it would be a problem

My infraction came from putting a phrase above an image, a phrase below it. It did make it quite big. Maybe I had some other lines too, cant remember exactly, but it took up a lotta space I suppose. So yeah, the text would have to be minimal I think. Somebody'll answer the point soon no doubt cos I can't admit to really understanding all the ins and outs except in general layman's terms.

 

If you check the properties of any image, you will see the dimensions and the filesize.

And yes, the amount of text or the layout of the signature can make it massive for no good reason. At the moment, the amount of text isnt set, its currently at user discretion, but if people take the * and make unreasonably sized signatures with text, we'll fix a limit on that too.
