If it is only 1 it has to be a CB, gven the fact we will need to replace 2 players from that position at the end of the season, if not before. Realistically we need a CB and a RB as a matter of urgency though.

I chose RB as it feels like each goal we concede is through our right.

Imagine a player on RB like KT on left. What a weapon that would be. Pushing up all the time from both back positions. No more teams coming to bully us because there was no balance. Wingers being able to only do their winger job. As well with the more speed and Bayo up front we should be far more energetic attacking force. More pressure from us too. Think we might see more of Rodgers football from season one again. Where we do the bossing and the pushing all the time.

Ofcourse the CB homework needs to be done so that at least by start of the new season we have a functioning defence.

 

Regardless, it’s the truth. Lustig is done. His errors have cost us this season, two big games spring to mind. Athens away and Huns away.

 

We need a centre half badly

 

Weve been done on the right side a few times, even tried to put in Gamboa against Motherwell we lost the goal thru him , Left side is quality if Tierney is fit he's rarely been injured.

 

Hopefully get some cash for the mercenary and get a new centre half.

If we’re thinking of the rest of the season then it has to be a right back, that’s our weakest position providing Boyata and Benkovic stay until then.

If we’re thinking towards the CL qualifiers moreso then probably CB as we’ll be in a massive hole come June.

However, if the club have learned anything from the previous few months and are in any way * competent then they’ll sign both a centre half and a right full this month.

 

I still think Jack Hendry is a far, far, far bigger bombscare than him. If we don’t get a Boyata replacement it’s him and Ajer for the qualifiers again. We really can’t afford that sorta * to happen.

Lustig is declining but in a solid defensive structure he can be ok. We do need a replacement for him at some point but centre half has surely got to be the priority. Worst comes to worst we have Ralston.

We are dangerously lacking options and quality in the CB position

Benkovic - gone in the summer
Boyata - gone in the summer
Hendry - not good enough, never will be
Simu - can’t be trusted
Ajer - I have hope for him but still inexperienced

We need 2 centre backs in by the summer.

Although, anyone ever see Brewsters Millions? None of the above. I'd rather another attacking option personally.

Benkovic is here till season end and if Boyata goes I'd be happy enough with either Jozo or Ajer partnering him. Lustig/Ralston/Gamboa will also get us to season end when both Lustig, who's on a big wage will go, plus Gamboa.
Gordon is our major weak link. He can't play the way Brendan wants and his overall goalkeeping play has dropped off, he's on a big wage and I doubt we'll get offers for him. Get a keeper.
