I think he is a far more pragmatic man that the flight of fancy we saw with TM. Both MO'N & WGS built their success upon a sturdy foundation, a position of strength. Strong at the back is the priority. Upon this focus on a spine, preferably N'Guermo & Crosas in CM, Keane up front, and then turn attention to the wide roles and the other striker. Playing players in their proper positions would be a good start.

Will also be interesting to see how both Sammy & Fortune are utilized over the coming months, as well as the likes of McCourt & McGinn.

I was thinking about this when it got announced about Lennon taking over. I loved the 3-5-2 formation that MON set up...but he had the players to pull it off. Agathe was a brilliant player bombing up and down the flank attacking as good as he could defend. On the other wing you had Thommo who could put in a bit of dig and also chip in with assists and goals.
But somehow I dont think we have anyone who could do those jobs.

Whatever set up he uses I think it should be one that protects the defence. They need it.

There could be dangers in being fired up. The players and Lennon need to be shrewd on their next game. I hope theyre not that fired up and go gung ho, leaving themselves short at the back and being picked off on the counter attatck...its going to be a toughie for Lennon and if he comes through his first game with a convincing win then he will deserve alot of credit.

I think it will be a very strong midfield orientated team. Which I felt Mowbray just couldn't get right

if he plays 4-4-2 he will need to make sure the wide midfielders track back to cover and dont just turn into spectators like they have done under mowbray

i can see him knowing the impotance of a out and out defensive midfielder like him so hopefully he tells nguemo stay right back and tells brown to get forward, a 352 might be a good shout, you can see it, a strong mid, but i reckon its a bit hard to be tinkering and getting a back 3 to work at this time of a season

    in order

    Boruc
    Brown
    Hoovield/Hinkel

    that would be it

the only player who REALLY play for celtic are Boruc and Hinkel, Brown as well, show some passion, which is why i dont want to see them 3 go

He probably won't change much except team mentality to be honest. I haven't kept up with the reserves. How does he play them?

    I think consistency is important.

Boruc in goal, get a settled back four, get Crosas and N'Guemo in front of them and have Keane up top.

Probably have to play Brown and McGeady to keep them in the shop window.

Excellent point. I think the remainder of the season will be exactly that...a shop window.

It was used for Donati, Caldwell and Robson and I have no doubt it'll be used for others. You get the feeling that's why Wilson has been brought back in.

Long term I personally hope we go back to being a set piece specialist side,at both ends of the pitch. It was the basis of an incredible run of success under O'Neill.

Being defensively sound and strong at set-pieces will take you far in the game - but only so far.

Eventually we will need players who can pass the ball and create things.

But getting the team organised, settled and motivated is the first step. As I said many times before, all the top sides are built on strong defensive foundations.
