Also inter like to play a 4-3-1-2 formation

    So could look like

    Handanovic
    Campagnaro Ranocchia Juan Jesus D'Ambrosio,
    Guarin Medel Kovacic
    Hernanes
    Icardi Podolski/Osvaldo

Kovacic is one we need to watch. Hernanes and Guarin as well. That midfield now that I look at it is excellent, not on par with a Juve or Madrid no, but still if they turn up we won't have a hope.

Have they chosen Podolski or Shaqiri to go in yet?

Im sick of hearing this bs about commons. How us he a luxury player if he is one of our main goal threats? its not use
Beinng able to run wif the ball if u cant find a team mate with a pass or do something productive with the ball. Commons is one of our best at retaining possession. After our run of form, he comes bak into the team against killie and plays like that. Ur deluded or in denial if u cant notice the difference he makes.

This is definitely our starting lineup, so if we're going full-strength, this is probably it. Except Osvaldo's pretty much on his way out, and Podolski probably won't play as a central striker.
Ranocchia's been showing signs of weakness, and so has Jesus. Regarding the former, you wouldn't bet on our captain being benched anytime soon, and as for Juan, he's the only central defender we have that is another style of player (agile, one of the fastest centrebacks you'll find, not much in the sense of positioning or awareness though compared to the other 3, with Vidic, Andreolli being the last two), so he's pretty much always guaranteed a start when he's fit.

Part in bold isn't true, he gives the ball away a lot in games, especially in European games against better opposition.

If I remember right the most succesful passers of the ball against Barcelona was Miku and Commons. He plays it tidy in Europe, when on the wing. Something I think we miss.

He isn't the possesion keeper in the SPFL, mostly because he's the one expected to pull something different off.

Commons is * in Europe this has been proven, no pace, doesn't get the time or space on the ball he usually would in the league and sorry to burst your bubble but his touch and ball retention is stinking at times. The main fact as well is he doesn't track back enough or press enough. I love him and hope he stays but just can't cut it in European football.

To be fair that was probably about 8 passes between them :smiley-laughing002:. I do think in general though he gives the ball away a lot in Europe. There's one game in particular we played away from home, I think it was last season in the qualifiers but I'm not sure, and he must have either misplaced a pass or got dispossessed every second time he got the ball, can't afford to do that against decent opposition.

And I agree on the second part, I'd probably play him nearly every game in the league, but at home against Inter where really you need to be keeping a clean sheet I just don't think it would be worth having him on the pitch, we probably won't have enough possession for him to be in any way effective.

    Elfsborg away.

I still blame that pitch for it, even Ledley couldn't pass five yards that night.

We need to operate this tactic otherwise there's no point in even supporting a football team.

I might take up netball if we don't do this at least once this season.

Send this to Ronny, give him a heads-up :50:

Out of that team, I recognise Guarin, Medel and Hernanes the most and from what I can remember, these are very talented players. Hernanes bought from Lazio?

We might have a good chance in this match but we cannot underestimate Inter at all, they are still a giant in world football. Arguably bigger than us.

Guarin had the potential to be one of the best back to back players in the world.
IMMENSE physically and a absolute rocket of a right foot, You might've seen this one before; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2WwRNyZTwOM
Trouble is, that's the exception rather than the rule, and he has the football intelligence of a 6 year old who really, really wants to score. It's head down, charge in at full speed, then lose the ball, rinse repeat. He is one of the players that we can demand a tidy transfer sum from (we're probably not making the 12 mil. we bought him for back though) and he dispensable, so I'd like to see him gone, personally.

Medel you probably know from the World Cup or from his time at Cardiff. Bulldog type, who runs and runs and runs and is deceptively decent on the ball for a player his type. Can and has played CB for Chile at times, but with us, he's our most defensive midfielder.

Hernanes was bought from Lazio yes, and he's a weird one. He hasn't recreated the form that made him a guaranteed started Brazil, in fact he hasn't really played well, but he's still essential in the way that we absolutely need him to create something. Or rather, should I say 'needed'? Hopefully the purchases of Shaqiri and Podolski means we have other outlets.
Good dribbler, good shot, but a shocking first touch and makes the wrong decisions at critical times.

Juan strikes me as your typical Brazilian centre half, might have a bit of pace and good on the deck but pretty weak in terms of proper defensive attributes.

You'd be pretty close to the truth in fairness. I'd liken him to Varane in that sense. Very, very pacy, and awesome 1v1, but gets caught out of position alot. To be fair though, he has played next to a very mediocre Ranocchia for most of his time at Inter, and that isn't someone you'd love to learn from when you're in your early twenties and needing someone stabile next to you.

Had he been playing next to Samuel, he'd been a way more refined defender, that's for sure.

He's also not completely a natural centre half eh? Did he not start out at left back.

The midfield is where it will be 'won or lost' so to speak, as is always said. If your midfield players turn up we will have no chance. Purely because, as an outsider, that's where I think you are strongest.

Hernanes, Medel, Kovacic, Guarin are all very effective at doing their own thing. Medel is a wee pitbull, I loved him in the world cup. Hernanes and Guarin both have a touch of class but Guarin in particular, anytime I have watched him, can add some bite to that as well. Kovacic is exactly the player we need. Can unlock a defence with one pass, going to be a brilliant player.

On paper it's a strong midfield but for some reason they haven't always turned up for you in recent times.
