Cheers, I know it's a while ago but do you have any idea of how much we spent that window? £15m seems quite a low number to strengthen us as much as I'd like especially if that's spread out among more than 4 signings. We don't need a lot but £15m? We must have more?

I don't want us to worry about the huns, looking in the rear view mirror we're going to crash. They only beat us cause they wanted to more than us. As Sutton said, if they played every team like that maybe they'd be competition.

All those games showed us was we need motivation, Rodgers took over Ronny's squad and completely changed our consistency. He didn't change our style because when Ronny won, we won in style.

So the board could be looking at the Invincible season and thinking, that was amazing, we knew he was good but didn't realise he was that good. Than the Man City game, he brought back the thunder and again showed the EPL their league is an illusion unmasked in Celtic Park. Yet after that the board must've looked at Europe and thought hmmm he's looking a wee bit one dimensional and we've had to adapt to a selling club as we've seen what happens when ego gets in the way of long term decisions. We want a manager who has an ego because we need confidence but not one so overwhelming it gets in the way of the right way.

10 Anthony Stokes, £800,000 from Hibernian, Aug 2010 [BBC]
26 Fraser Forster, (loan) from Newcastle United, Aug 2010 [BBC]
03 Emilio Izaguirre, £600,000 from Motagua, Aug 2010 [BBC]
05 Daniel Majstorovic, free from AEK Athens, Aug 2010 [BBC]
33 Beram Kayal, £1.2 million from Maccabi Haifa, Jul 2010 [BBC]
88 Gary Hooper, £2.4m from Scunthorpe, Jul 2010 [BBC]
04 Efrain Juarez, undisclosed from UNAM Pumas, Jul 2010 [BBC]
27 Daryl Murphy, £1.5m from Sunderland, Jul 2010 [BBC]
16 Joe Ledley, free from Cardiff City, Jul 2010 [BBC]
11 Cha Du-Ri, free from SC Freiburg, Jul 2010 [BBC]
21 Charlie Mulgrew, free from Aberdeen, Jul 2010 [BBC]

Juarez deal was reported to be upto £4 million but there must have been a lot of add-ons to that as Lennon was on record saying it wasn't for "massive money".

If you go with an approximate figure of £2 million for Juarez that gives a total spend of £8.5 million that summer which was recouped in full by the McGeady sale to Spartak (£9.5 million)

Not remember Lennon’s first season? Nearly a whole new team. Signed loads that season.

I don't remember, I mean if you showed me the games of that season I might recall.

Cheers for the info Sean, that's an amazing bit of budgetary business, almost makes it totally clear why the board want Lenny.

Most of those players were more than average for us, it's quite amazing. I wonder how much that was Lenny's appreciation of their abilities and which systems would suit them best?

We need nothing like that overhaul now so that's promising especially if he gets more money per player which he should if we're doing anything in Europe.

I don’t think we’re needing massive money spent on the squad as people have mentioned. With the likes of Griff coming back, Shved coming in along with the likes of Bayo and Arzani hopefully making an impact next season that should already make a big difference.

I’d say this window we’re needing a First team Rb, First team Cb, Lb as cover for Kt and a new Cm. If Ntcham leaves for £9/10m and if we offload Sinclair for £2/3m, if we go about our business smartly, i reckon we could strengthen in the areas mentioned for around £16/17m, meaning a total spend of around £5m.

Spot On, my thoughts exactly! We will not spend anymore than £10mil, with a couple of loan deals thrown in

    Another zero net spend summer.

All joking aside after the leaked document I really fear that we will end up completely * up this transfer window and all the blame will be put on the document and Lawwell will collect another * bonus.

    £7m spent on Julien
    £3m spent on Turnbull :39:

Profit must have been going to be too high in the accounts! Can’t come out saying oh we have £50m in bank come end of year this way business is started.

Money spent in this financial year then

    £2m Bayo
    £1.8m Shved
    £7m Julien

£10.8m upto £14m if Turnbull deal goes through

    Money brought in

    £19.8m Dembele

Net profit of £9m less any loan fees for Benkovic, Weah, Toljan and Burke

Add to that £10m for Rodgers, Toure, Driscoll, Davies and Congerton.

Let’s see what the new financial year brings.

Like to think 2-3 would be in before the start of next week. All seems a little slow

Think we could and will spend £20 mil this summer and still have a very healthy bank balance.

We will throw some money about this summer . Net spend will be no more than 5m though, we are going to sell.

I think we'll spend over 15 million but the real question is how big the net profit will be when we're finished

Imo the net spend will be close to the usual outgoing £8m to £10m though if we spend £20m this summer and claw back £10m to £14m on day Ntcham and someone else then I don’t really think anyone can complain.

However if you spend £20m and claw back say £37m then you might see a few people * off!
