How much do you think Petrov should go for

Petrov is irreplacable. Saying Naka is his replacement is non-sense, since Naka is an attack minded player only. Stan is a box to box midfielder, gets in for corners to win headers, makes good runs from midfield, runs back to win the ball and when someone does something wrong, stan lets them know all about it. He is the biggest influence in the dressing room and he is essential to the teams development. Stan is a unique player, and we will never get a player like him again as hard as we try, because they will never have an influence on the team like he does. If it was up to me, i'd offer him whatever it takes for him to stay, but it looks like its too late now. We wasted his wages on a guy who we don't need and who is passed it, and almost caused us an important goal yesterday which would have seen us go 3 - 2 down.

 

But on the bench there still is Pearson+Lawson and other players so GS should give them more of a chance when were winning games more easily(hopefuly soon)+The board now if Stan left theey would have to try and fund his replacement no-matter what??

 

Larsson was irreplaceable too but we can still score lots of goals.

 

Sanders , for Petrov money is irrelevant, he wants to move to one of the major leagues period. Nothing to do with Keane.
I don't suggest turning Naka into a box to box midfielder. This is a British fixation. all the top European teams set up there midfields to allow for a central player with vision and creative ability. We should follow there lead. we currently fit him in on the right instead of building a team around his talent.

Larsson did alot more than score goals, and he still hasn't been replaced.

 

Until BBJ is dumped it will never happen. Whoever his partner is has to run their * off as he doesn't do any. The reallity is they do his work for him rather than work together. Until we get a combination of equal partners nobody is going fulfill their true potential.

 

I dread the thought of our midfield without Petrov in it, because as it proved against clyde, we don't have one. I know that Petrov wants a new challenge, but realistically, if the only teams wanting him are Fulham and the like then he will hopefully realise that staying is his best option. I'd rather have both Petrov and Nakamura in my team than have only Nakamura. Nakamura is here for 3 years, and with the way he is playing, I don't think we'll manage to hold on to him for longer than that. So, when Petrov leaves in 18months, we have Naka for 1 more year... so what do we do when Naka leaves?

I agree, I think Beattie and Magic offer the best attacking options. Starting to get * off at Hartson and how he is offside 50% of the time because he won't move his lazy * back a few meters

 

your proving my point lol. No they have never been replaced, and because of that, we have never been as successful as their team.

 

thats what worries me more, replacing Naka as i also believe his stay here is not long term.
He gives us what Lubo did and maybe more which has been sorely missed for 3 years.Players like him are scarce, one's that will come to Scotland are even rarer

 

Realistically I think we can expect to get between £4-6 million for Stan if we cash in during the summer. IMO, he's wort around £8 million, but because he plays in the SPL we'll never get that.
Although I would rather we kept Stan and built our midfield around him, we have to accept that he has had his time in the SPL, can you imagine facing teams like Motherwell, Killie, Dunfermline etc 4-6 times a season for 7 years? When he goes he will have my full backing, a great Celtic player, but all good things come to an end.
IMO this summer will be even more crucial for Strachan and his rebuilding, the whole defence needs sorted, a couple of midfielders and a couple of new strikers will be needed, with the likes of Thommo, Agathe, Hartson, Varga, Lennon ( maybe kept as a squad player ) and a few others being moved on.

Would you be happy if lets say stan leaves in a couple of years and goes to Spain and some spanish supporters would say ... I think he comes from Rankers in Scotland !
