Don't think he fits in that system, it's a system where everyone needs to work really hard when we don't have the ball.

As has been said, Paddy's ability to work hard off the ball, is his real downfall.

Maybe he is just an impact player, to bring on when we need a goal. His ability to unlock tight defences is something I wish we could utilise more often though.

a real fit McCourt wouldn't be playing for Celtic. He would be playing for a team that could pay more money unfortunately.

I know Paddy had a lot of problems with his lower back and it played havoc with him ,is this still the reason that he is out so often ,if he was 100% every week he would be a star that guy ,real shame though about his fitness, Anyone know.

Is he not destined for W.Brom at the end of the season? I'm sure I read a report stating this somewhere.

Seen paddy at the brandywell a good 20 times. He was always best wide right. Thats the position he is used to. Probably his best position. He can take the hand of a left back out there. I wouldnt play him behind the striker tbh. Big Fortune is better suited to that role. Hes a beast and a workhorse. Dont know the craic we his fitness tho. He seems to be out a lot. He must have something worng with him because i dont remember him being out of derrys team

same situation with mcdonald, always offside, but the passes should have been much more prompt

i love paddy ,and im so frustrated he can get over his injury and fitness troubles because with the ball at his feet hes a genius, and if he learned to track back then he would be one of our best players imo

A phenomenal talent, undoubtedly. Even at full fitness, however, I still see him as being an impact player, coming off the bench with about 1/2 hr to play, where he can terrorize opposing defenders that are starting to tire a little by that stage.

The thing is, am no sports pyschologist but it does not take a genious to work out that this lad has had his problems and is well documented by the way.
he is not getting any younger and this will only add to his problems, i for one
would like him to be a success but i just dont see it.
i know we should not right him off yet but the celtic staff have there work cut out and i believe we should be looking to send him out on loan or maybe even punting on

If we could get his fitness to last a full match, he would be the automatic pick of everybody with at least a quarter of a brain. Leave defense to others, this player is a murder for the opponent, even on his own! The best midfielder in the club, IMO.

Should sell him in the summer IMO, can't last a whole 90 and is unfit/injured most of the time, he's overrated because he goes on a few mazy runs from time to time.

hes very unfit for someone of his build...watching him run rings round 6 players then tap the ball in to the net is worth every penny

Overrated cuz he goes on a few mazy runs? Paddy McCourt is made for the SPL, his few mazy runs usually have a dangerous impact. I honestly think other defenders fear Paddy McCourt because they don't want to look like complete idiots when he runs at them. In 4 starts and 9 sub appearances he has three remarkable goals. So let's see... we let him run off to Hibs or someone, then he gets fit and in a full season he pulls off 15-20 amazing goals. He's not on a high wage contract, it would be daft to just let him go.

    Agree Totally with this.

People seem to forget, that even against these "Weaker" SPL teams it was unlikely "Anybody" else in the team could score goals like the one's Paddy the magician conjoured up.

Forget this Sell him cause he's never fit or he's only good for an Impact sub role. FACT is we need a decent Impact sub, and Paddy McCourt with his sublime skill & low wages fits exactly into the conditons our club has to run under at the moment. The money coming in means we can't affoard top quality players anymore, so with his low wage Paddy is a talent we can affoard. Maloney is on at least 3 times what Paddys on and has been on the treament table more often that not in his two spells at the Club.
Sean has lived his dream and been well paid for it even though he has been injured for large parts of it.
If an Impact Sub role is all Paddy has to offer then so be it, So forget all this sell him ta * talk, let him live his dream, he's not robbing the club or anything with his modest wages and IMO will be a Legend at our club even if its only through a "Supersub" role.
