Brilliant episode. Wouldn’t have looked out of place if that was in seasons 1-4 of GoT.

Paddy Considine is a fantastic actor.

The Mrs watches this while I * about on the phone waiting for it to end. It seems to be constantly just folk * about who's next in line for certain positions, bloodlines and so on.

A few more sub plots wouldn’t go amiss. GOT always had a few different storylines going at the same time.
As you say, almost every conversation in this is something to do with who succeeds who for what.
The crab feeder episode was the only one that deviated away from the main story at all.

I got so far with GOT, watched a lot of it when I was off work sick but I've kinda lost interest in that as well around series 6. It's not bad but it's not something I feel I need to see the end of like a lot of other series.

You definitely don’t need to see the end of GOT :giggle1:

I stopped watching for a couple weeks, im at the episode that skips 10 years, * all happened in it. There was zero plotline, lost interest

Not sure what people are expecting. It’s absolute elite TV with great characters and writing.

Plenty of GoT episodes have zero action and revolved around politics/successions etc.

“zero plotline” is a mental statement.

I know, i know.. i need to watch more, but the first episode was possibly the most boring piece of garbage i have ever seen start off a series :56: It was almost impossible to go through it without falling asleep.

The second half of this show has been akin to peak GoT.

They will always be compared to each to each other but you can see the difference in care that has been taken between Rings of Power and HOTD.

HOTD has clearly, been aimed at trying to "write" the wrongs of how GoT later seasons were handled and put its aim on trying to bring back and cater for the core fans of the books, it's taken time to where it can, go back to what made early seasons of GoT so enthralling. In a way it doesn't feel like it's been what I thought it would be (execs needing a cow to milk).

Rings of power on the otherhand, while I've personally really enjoyed it...you can clearly see the stark difference in the audiences it is trying to reach, their writing is more simple, their direction of certain scenes obvious as they have to point out certain changes for the audience.

For all the money in world that's been spent on it...none has gone on the writers and it shows...all the gear and no idea with Amazon clearly as they've tried to seriously make their show more commercially viable and reach out to viewers who otherwise don't care for these genres.

But back on HOTD, my only personal gripe is that the characters has been portrayed so well on screen it makes knowing certain things so incredibly * frustrating, but right now it is unmissable tv for me.

Thought episode 9 was decent but missed Considine and Matt Smith.
It’s a well made series and like GoT keeps you interested because you never know what’s going to happen next.
Still way off peak GoT for me though.

I think the fact that you know what's going to happen(due to the popularity of GOT a lot of people know whats happening next on this)on this is the only thing that is against it ,

I’m sure a lot of folk will enjoy it but I thought the finale was massively disappointing.
