When you look at the likes of Rooney who'se barely scored half a dozen goals this season it makes you wonder about the EPL

If Bothroyd gets a chance then he deserves a crack at the whip. No doubt! Probly one of the best finishers England have. Good on Capello for at least watching him or sending someone to watch him. I think Hoops age has a big thing to do with it.

He'll probably get called up and just be used as backup in the squad. IF he does get called up I'll be shocked as capello/trapatonni etc are SPL snobs. Infact the whole English FA have always been SPL snobs...sutton...thommo(even though he got one cap he should've had plenty more.)

Hope he gets a call-up id love to see him playing for them, good chance of getting into tournaments and stuff and it would add a lot to his value, especially as id expect him to score goals for them and a guy scoring goals for England with the ability Hooper has could go for any amount.

Although i think hooper is brilliant for us and that he deserves a call up due to his perfomances i would be very surprised if he got a full international cap whilst playing in the spl if anything it would be a B-game that he would be capped in imo.

Just looking there and I think they will actually call him up. They play 2 friendlies and they only really have Rooney, Bent and Crouch.

Defoe and Agbonlahor are miles off form, Carroll is injured and Bothroyd only has 2 goals in his last 11 games. They arent going to pick Andy Johnson and there's no one else.

They know all about Crouch who is also off form. So I think theres a good chance they could try Hooper with Rooney/Bent in the games.

This would certainly add to his value in the transfer. As far as alerting others to his potential, if he has been ebserved by the management of the English national team then I am sure EPL managers are aware of his ability. As an English international he would command a huge transfer fee. Though I would not want to lose him every player has his price and with a large transfer fee I am sure he could be replaced.

I would be delighted if this was true. I think it would let Gary Hooper know that his ability and performances will not go unnoticed just because he's playing in the SPL.

It could be a factor in being able to keep Hooper here for years to come actually. As he would know that his performances could put him in the frame for an England cap, he would be challenging for titles every year and he's got a chance of European football at Celtic.

I don't think he would swap that for a mid-table EPL club, which can only be good news.

I think this is fantastic for Hooper. He gets to play for his country which now gives it a less chance of him wanting to leave Celtic. Plus if we win the league this season I am sure Hooper will wan't to play in the Champions League aswell. Hooper I believe would only leave if Tottenham had came in with a large amount of money because thats his dream club to play for. He can move down south and do * for a mid table/relegation battle club and kiss his England career goodbye. So him staying with us could actually be good for him in terms of his International career.

Bothroyd, i think jezzz? anyway Hooper playing for Engerlind will do one of two things,
1- he scores, plys a blinder and we get an offer too good to refuse
2- he doesnt score ,comes on as a late sub, and doesnt really get a kick,

If its 2 then im happy, in a selfish way i dont want him to do well, as it would see the last of him for celtic, but getting REALLY GOOD MONEY, either way hes in the shop window playing for Engirlind

If you look at the England strikers, only Rooney is what you deem world class.

Would I take Defoe, Crouch, Bent over Hooper right now? Doubtful.

Is there a link for this? as i cant see capello picking hooper tbh as he didnt take sutton or thompson when they were here.
