I'm guessing you would like a bunch of meek players?

Every team needs there characters. Jos is a big character; you can't underestimate just how good that is for the team morale in the dressing room.

Big Jos has not impressed me at all on the pitch tbh, he should start there before talking to the media. He needs to earn his respect on the pitch before opening his mouth to the press if you ask me.

    You miss my point.

Why would these Dutch sides when scouting not see Hooiveld, and offer to take him back home? It's not because De Eredivisie is full of great Dutch defenders, as you yourself allude to. It's where he wanted to play, but couldn't cut it, not even in the lower division.

He was signed in January, has played how often, it now being August?

Yes, he talks the talk, but so do the most folk over here, with the odd exception.

Anyhoo, I've said my piece, I'm done.

Sometimes i think a lot of you don't know a thing about football and how things are organised:
. every player has a job to do fot the club. First of all that is training and playing games
. but also doing a lot of other activities (giving signatures, opening shops, doing social work and all kinds of things
. sometimes players have to show their new home-shirts and have to talk to the press.
All these things players have to do !! Not own choices!!
So was Hooiveld talking to the press and i think he did it well. He has a relaxed way of talking and knows something about football. And that is what he is payed for !.
And believe me: he even does not WANT to be a captain. He never was a captain but he was the organizer of the defence. He was that in Sweden, Finland, but also in Holland.
So stop all the talking about that simply interview and talk about coming games. Thought competition is starting soon.

only one reaction to this dutch guy who thinks he knows a lot of dutch football (but cannot write some decent english):
there have been some seriuos requests at Hooiveld to come back to Holland and play for some dutch clubs. He refused to do that, because at that time he liked Sweden very much. Uptil Celtic came, and who is refusing Celtic.....

I don't think he is suited to the Dutch style of football despite being Dutch.

He won two players of the year in a row in Finland and Sweden; which are very similiar leagues to ourselves both in quality and style of play.

He has been injured since he came to us because he had no pre-season and was flung straight into the deep end. You can't blame a player for that; it was just complete bad management by Tony Mowbray. Players need to be bedded in not flung in the deep end short of fitness and then do it again when he is just starting to get fit again.

I need to stress different leagues play different types of football; just because one player can't hack it in one league does not make him a bad player.

As I said Diego Forlan; * in the Premiership great in La Liga. Shevchencko moved to Chelsea as one of the greatest forwards of his generation completly flopped.

Does not make them bad players just not suited to a certain style of football; Hooiveld has proved he relishes the physicality of the Scandanavian league and imposed himself so much that he won two player of the year awards in seperate countries in seperate years.

Can't blame Dutch teams for not going for a very physical player as the Dutch league is one of the least physical in the world; his lack of pace and aggresion would severly hinder any Dutch side.

His aggresion will suit the SPL to a tee and if we are clever we will get somebody in behind him who can account for the lack of pace.

    Here the whole time
someone at the club should put a stop to him doing interviews and press conferences,as someone said earlier some members of the press seem to be trying to set him up for a fall the press office should see this and protect him for a while,at least until the gutter press find a new fall guy.preferebly kyle laugherty again.

Some of the best defenders in the world have no pace....so his pace should not be the issue, he should be assessed on his overall ability as a defender and the amount of times I have watched him have to cover for mulgrew is ridiculous and this can have an affect on a central defender if he knows his left back is pish !

He has made no costly mistakes and scored no own goals so far so he is an improvement on what we had this time last year

He seems lacking in match practise, which is hardly surprising. Haven't really seen much of him at the moment, but he talks a good game and seems like a good character as well. If he comes good on the park he will be a real asset for next season.

He's looked slow at times, hopefully he'll do a job for us though.

Hooiveld has played well every game he's been partnered with rogne, he's been dodgy more less every game hes been partnered with loovens.
Ans keep hooiveld and rogne as our cbs unless a better one comes in.
Loovens and mulgrew are the problems not hooiveld or cha. IMO ofcourse

I would like to revamp 'fritz a grand ol team' as its a bit old and cheesey, needs some fat beats

He played in a league winning side in a half decent league, I have seen him play and he looks like a commanding player and a decent defender who needs a RUN IN THE TEAM, due to injury he has not been able to do this.. he is not a cult hero at 'sellik' as you seem to imagine and what is it exactly that is wrong with his body?

and as for your last comment, its so devoid of any kind of intelligence or grasp of English language that I'm starting to suspect you are a hun.. :84:
