Agreed mate, he has all the attributes of a true captain, just needs to prove it now on the pitch week in week out

At the end of the day I couldn't give a * what he says to the press, he could tell them he likes to dress up as a French maid & get rammed up the * before matches for all I care.
As long as he does his best on the pitch in the hoops he's okay with me!

The papers are setting this guy for a fall, he's not quite as brash as they make out.

    Not quite, mate.

I called him a fud, for that is what he is.

He never made it here in Holland, not even in the 2nd division.

He plays for a couple of * wee teams, and hey presto, he's gonnae captain Celtic?

Did you ever stop to wonder why no Dutch teams are at all interested?

Did you know that Dutch teams source loads of their buys from Scandinavia?

    Nah, didn't think so.

think he should keep quiet for a while once he is playing well week in week out and we're top of the league then he can talk * to the press, until then id prefer he just got his head down and done the business on the park

Hopefully he can take the talk onto the pitch,i believe he can, give him 3 or 4 games to get fully back from injury and up to match speed and i think we'll see true hooiveld. If he is as good as he says he is then im all for giving him the armband, hes already shown leadership qualities and hopefully he can keep it up.

    Does he?

Surely any pro would know how to look after himself, and not be sidelined for months on end, no?

BTW, when Loovens appeared on the scene, I heard loads of punters saying that he would be the real deal. Caldwell and Mick's days were finito, moreso given O'Dea was still reckoned by some to be the answer.

Cue Jos appearing, and now all the blame lies at big Glenda's door?

Loovens is rid rotten, but he's better than Hooiveld, though I'd punt both, asap.

More or less the same with the left back position/carry-on.

Nobody could possibly be worse than Naylor, yet we now see Cha Mulgrew being played, and he is so poor, it's unreal.

I don't run folks down for fun, but I cannae stick seeing eejits bumming up some useless *. He talks the talk, big fckn deal. He gets played to help not concede goals.

    He doesn't, end of.

    Agree 100% mate.

Players that come out and say we're gonna win the league etc before a ball has been kicked need to keep it quite. But when players like hooiveld come out and say it how it is are more than bang on to say it.

Hooiveld will be a player for us; get a decent left back and a defender next to him and he will be a revealation I'm convinced of this.

Jimmy Mack you reckon everybody thought Loovens was the answer;I don't think I have met one single Celtic fan who thought he was the answer to our defending problems. They just thought he was better than McManus.

Loovens is the least aggresive centre back I have ever seen. Getting overpowered by Kenny Miller should never happen to one of our centre backs. The oddly puzzling thing about Loovens though is how aggresively he attacks the ball in the opposing box.

You said Dutch teams scout a lot in the Scandanavian leagues. Both of them are Scandanavian.

Mjallby played as many games in Sweden as he did in Scotland; missed a trick there those * Dutch.

There not the be all and end all; Dutch league is completly different than SPL. I don't think a lot of the Dutch defenders would last too long in the SPL too classy and not physical enough.

With some exceptional exceptions like Jaap Stam.
