It can vary. Best shop around. Check out cash back sites like Quidco and topcashback because sometimes you can (eventually) get some money back.

Used to work for esure, they gave you a discount for having motor and home and there home average price is 120 a year.

There's usually a clause in your mortgage which makes home insurance a necessity?

Yeah, mortgage lender won't lend unless you have building insurance. Contents is optional.
Where in Paisley did you buy the flat? I'm from Paisley and worked for many years in a taxi company so I know where all the junkies and bams are. -
Did you go through a financial adviser when buying? We did all our insurance and stuff through them, probs ended up paying slightly more than we could have found through comparison sites but it was so much easier.

If its a flat check to make sure the buildings insurance is not included in your factors bill

Mortgage had went through. But my solicitor needs this to finalise his part also.
And you're right hammer that it is necessary but there's some legal bs that I need to sort out personally
And yes t2tm. Moved into forbes place (right at the art centre/canal). Really nice wee bit.

Aye that was the main point.
I've got a quote for buildings and contents for 350 for a year. Seemed decent

Went through a broker who referred to a solicitor, who ref feted me to their insurance folk.
Just wasn't sure of the deal.
See * online and think you know best.
Just thought I'd sought advice from others who may know more. Coz all my pals wouldn't their * from their elbow
They refer you because usaually they're getting a cut to do so, phone around mate, haggle over the phone til you get the deal you want.
Been wi Direct Line for years, always been brand new and cheap compared to some of the others.

I got a mortgage about 2.5yr ago for a flat and my Building Insurance is tied in with the Factors fee so look into that first before getting a seperate one.
Contents Insurance is fairly cheap (if you want it) just depends how much value you want covered in case of any unforseen damages.

No mate. It's facing flats across. Still a tidy wee Street though. Just need to get everything sorted with furniture and what not.
It's an obvious thing to do but aside from checking the best prices, thoroughly investigate what's covered. Some of the quotes are excellent for some of the smaller companies but if you read into it you find out why.
