Was just looking at that. I couldn't resist sending this to a seller punting a £50 voucher on buy it now for £45:

Are you aware that as HMV are in administration they will not take these vouchers as payment?

I hope he responds because I'd love to see what he says.

I hope people sell £100 gift card for like a £10 because then HMV might turn around later on (as long as they arent completey *) and start accepting them again.

That would be well funny and it would serve them right. I don't believe for a second that those sellers on Ebay are unaware of the situation with trying to use them

Amazes me those who are buying don't know either.

It's dominated the news since the announcement.

High street stores are just better off closing with one or two exceptions, Internet shopping is the future.

Another case of not moving with the times.

If HMV had set themselves up for digital downloads in 2000 or so when it was recommended they would probably be safe as houses, but they didnt and other people have come in and stole their market share.
Same with Blockbuster.... if they had went to digital rentals through the internet or on games consoles or even the postal rentals instead of letting firms like Netflix and LoveFilm steal their market share.

But then it is a shark eat shark world out there in business. I am sure they have forced closures on other companies in the past (Global video being one i remember).

Yeah very true I've got spotify for my music and both Netflix and lovefilm I don't really buy much actual media apart from Xbox games and even then HMV's prices of them was a total joke

Spot on. All boils down to greed. They weren't prepared to invest and it's bitten them.

Went into the one in Silverburn today. A lot of the newer stuff is still around full price but a lot of box sets are cheap.

    Still probably cheaper online though.

I got two dvds from the website only received one but I was charged for the two a month after I went into the Silverburn branch and seen it on the shelf, said to the guys behind the desk and they said they could not do anything I'd need to contact the administrators (which I believe would have been a 100% waste of time imo) I phoned my bank and was told I was entitled to the refund and they would sort it out which they did, then just two days ago I got an e mail from hmv they appoligised because they don't have the dvd in stock and the money wasn't taken out my bank because it hadn't been shipped yet. Nonsense because it had clearly been debited and it had already been refunded. HMV were covering their own *.

Had my eye on the Dre Beatbox from HMV for a wee while.

It was originally £349.99 however it was on sale for £299.99 - the same as Currys.

Been going in this last few weeks thinking surely as they are in so much trouble it will come down in price again. Popped back in today and its back up to £349.99!!

Was totally shocked. No wonder they are in a lot of bother financially.
