I'm honoured to be in the time where they have brought back hip-hop & rap as two of the biggest in the industry.
With the likes of artists like, 50 Cent, Jay-Z, Diddy, Dr.Dre, Snoop Dogg, Lil Wayne, The Game, Kanye West, etc.
Plus, all the knew talent like Drake, J.Cole, Wiz Khalifa, Nicki Minaj, Cory Gunz etc.
With Artists who had a great year such as Rick Ross, Lloyd Banks and many more.
We have the producers to turn beats into gold, Kanye, Swizz Beatz, The Dream, and now Lex Luger, a 19 year old, who has all ready produced for Kanye, Rick Ross, and Wiz.
Im not sure if this was a question or a statement, haha.
But Hip-hop and rap is bigger and bigger.
do you agree?

Seriously worst form of music ever to be inflicted on the youth (general public) of today. Nothing musical or decent about it.

Well we are hardly going to listen to Classical are we :86:
I'm not sayin this is the only music, i listen to. I have a wide musical preference.
Such as, the likes of Coldplay, David Gray, The Who (yea i know), Adele, Paulo Nutini.
But if you want to hear a great beat and great ryhmes, listen to hip-hop. -

I think current rap is terrible. Utterly awful.
See example - Lil Wayne.
THere IS plenty of good, cerebral and smart hip hop out there but unfortunately there is this pathetic fixation with guns, drugs and money. Add to that a completely misogynistic view of women and there you have mainstream rap./hiphop.
Jurassic 5, Aesop Rock, Atmosphere, Sage Francis - this is good hiphop.
The lyrics in this song are brilliant, and you won't hear a single reference to *, guns or how bling their latest SUV is.

This is a perfect example of what made hip hop great in the first place - social commentary - talking about the lifes of ordinary people.
[YOUTUBE]hoLxuyV9qz8[/YOUTUBE]
Mainstream rappers like to shout about how 'real' they are and how they are still 'ghetto', which complete * considering you have a * gold plated toilet. I don't begrudge success but I do hate it when they pretend to still be poor for the sake of their lyrics.
Here's a song by Aesop Rock about war. The lyrics are complex to the extreme, as are most of his songs. There are still sections of Aesop songs that I can't comprehend due to his incredible verbosity - labyrinthine metaphors galore. His lyrics are poems that just happen to have some sweet beats with them.

Final song - a nice wee song about religion

Same goes for most styles of music, you mentioned coldplay and david gray, and if you enjoy them that's fine keep doing so, but honestly coldplay especially they are just the blandest of the bland.
The best bands/artists aren't always the most well known or successful. -

Coldplay is my depressed moments, the late hours of the night and *.
But back to the point i feel like J.Cole and Drake are pushin hip-hop to go further than its boundaries. -
Code:
[Drake] I'm more than just an option Hey, Hey, Hey Refuse to be forgotten Hey, Hey, Hey I took a chance with my heart Hey, Hey, Hey And I feel it taking over [Chorus] I better find your love and I better find your heart I better find your love and I better find your heart I better find your love and I better find your heart I bet if I give all my love Then nothings gonna tear us apart I’m more than just a number Hey, Hey, Hey I doubt you’ll find another Hey, Hey, Hey So every single summer Hey, Hey, Hey I be the one that you remember [Chorus] Drake Find Your Love lyrics found on http://www.directlyrics.com/drake-find-your-love-lyrics.html And I better find your lovin I better find your heart I better find your love and I better find your heart I better find your love and I better find your heart I bet if I give all my love, Then nothings gonna tear us apart It’s more than just a mission Hey, Hey, Hey You hear but you don’t listen Hey, Hey, Hey You better pay attention Hey, Hey, Hey And get what you been missing [Chorus] Too many times I’ve been wrong I guess being right takes too long I’m done waiting, theres nothing left to do But give all I have to you and I better find your love and I better find your heart I better find your love and I bet if I give all my love, Then nothings gonna tear us apart I bet if I give all my love, Then nothings gonna tear us apart
Did you listen to any of the videos I posted? -
i love my hip hop and rap, i do agree with format to a certain exten that i dont like to hear all them rappin about ther suv's money and so on as i thik its been done to death my favourite rappers were the game and eminem but latley the two best albums i have heard are Devlins - Bud Sweat and Beers (especially brainwashed runaway and community outcast) Tinie Tempahs Discovery ( especially Invincible written in the stars pass out and miami to ibiza :50:) and Professor Green Alive till am dead, i liked ndubs as well nut ther newest album just seemed rushed and americanised

I get all the modern mainstream hip-hop inflicted on me by my wee bro, and it is garbage. He's only 12, so he'll learn. Apart from flogging the same old guns, money, cars lyrics over & over again nobody seems to bother * about with beats to come up with something fresh.
Must admit i don't follow rap as closely as i once did, no doubt original stuff is still being made under the radar, but personally think mainstream hip-hop peaked from mid 80's (PE, Ultramagnetics etc) through to the mid 90's (Tribe Called Quest, Wu-Tang). -
nicki minaj, drake, lil wayne, 50 cent , seriously how have they brought it back
the golden era of rap imo was from the late 80s to mid 90s if we are talking mainstream
that period had the likes of rakim, kool g rap, wu tang clan, krs one, nas....
you cant possibly say, lil wayne, the game etc have brought that era back
the only hip hop you will find like that is underground, canibus, apathy, diabolic, pharaohe monch etc -
Diddy hasn't done anything of note since Big was writing his rhymes, Rick Ross has one of the most manufactured careers in Hip Hop history, 50 Cent has all but retired after making a mint from Vitamin Water (and he hadn't done anything decent for about 8 years anyway), Dr Dre doesn't even write his own songs.
New York City, 1993 - 1996, that was Hip Hop at it's best. I genuinely read that first post thinking it was a troll. I actually like a few of the artists around now but comparing them with the likes of Nas, Big L or Biggie is ridiculous. Almost everything you have mentioned is throwaway Pop music. -

I think this is a new era for hip-hop, it went dead for a few years then artist starting appearing from no-where all at the same time: Drake, J. Cole, Tempah, Wiz Khalifa, B.o.B. etc.
I also think older artists are getting back to their best as well: Jay-Z, Eminem, Snoop, Kanye, Dr. Dre, etc.
It's definitely an exciting and optimistic future for hip-hop!
