Another Russian here.
Just a question. What is your relationships with Hibernian FC, they have also the green colours and irish history. I ve heard that one russian guy even visited Easter Road and support Hibs there.
So what do you think?
P.S. Thank you for yesterday`s game, that was a good game of football.

Hibs where founded to feed the poor & starving Irish community in Edinburgh. A BROTHER WALFRID seen how well it was doing for helping the poor that he decided to start the same thing for the poor and starving Irish that lived in the east end of glasgow 13 years later. We where originally going to be called Glasgow Hibernian, but it was decided on Glasgow Celtic as to bring both Celt nations a similar interest to share as to bridge the gap in the city.Hibs wore the hoops first and celtic finally adopted them too.
someone will probs be able able to post beter info than that later :50: -

lol they have always been our feeder club......
When Celtic was founded (incidentally did you know that the idea for Celtic Football and Athletic Club was conceived in November 1887 not 1888....when brother walfrid was at a special reception in honour of the 1st Scots-Irish football club to win the Scottish cup) the first thing they did after acquiring the land and building the stand was to persuade 6 of the Hibernian players at the time who were staunch catholics (hibernian had what now be considered sectarian values in player selection and only recruited Practicing Catholic footballers, it was noted that they even dropped players from the team if the missed mass no matter how well they were playing they were considered so Irish that the SFA dismissed their first claim to become a reckognised club because they were Irish and not Scottish, true story.) who lived in the west of Scotland to play for Celtic, Hibernian at the time were wiping the floor with everyone. Which as you could imagine losing 6 of thier best at the one time had a damning effect on the teams performances, I'm originally from Edinburgh and i know people who still go on about that to this day!!
Also it was Hibernian who played the first game of football at Celtic park, they opened the park (as Celtic hadn't yet drafted a first eleven) a draw against Cowlairs with a crowd of 3,000.
It was the enthuasiam which Celtic created and the fact that it was for charity that persuaded Hibernain to play a charity match (East End Charity Cup) against Renton FC to raise money for this worthy cause. I think more people attended that than the Scottish Cup Final in that year (which Hibs won)
