On This Day 15 years ago, Ghod scored his first ever goal for Celtic in a 7-0 pumping of the Berwick Huns. It was also Stephane Mahe's debut and Regi Blinkers debut and Blinkers first goal.

Just finished reading chris sutton's book and king henrik done the foreword for it and he sounds as if he could handle himself as there is a passage in it were he talks about sutton and ends it with sutton wouldn't annoy him as he new better, it's a cracking read by the way.For the amount of challenges he got in the spl anyone else would have snapped but not our Henke * bless him.

Don`t think he did take it well

The full-back left the field on a stretcher after a late x-rated challenge from the Swede during Celtic's crucial 1-0 win at Parkhead on Wednesday night.

MacPherson will now be out of football for nearly a month after having 12 stitches inserted in a gaping gash in his leg.

He also suffered a slight compound fracture of the tibia and a hole was punctured in the muscle after Larsson's scything challenge tore through the player's shinguard.

MacPherson is under no illusions as how lucky he was not to suffer a broken leg.

And he believes Larsson failed the acid test of whether a footballer means a bad challenge or not - by failing to show any remorse.

Yesterday, recovering at home, MacPherson said: "I was disappointed with the challenge.

"It means I'll be out for three weeks at a time when important games, like the one against Rangers, are coming up.

"I knew right away that the challenge was a bad one.

"When I was lying on the deck he showed no concern and as a player you know that when an opponent doesn't show any concern about what's happened that it wasn't accidental.

"I've heard that some people suggested he was retaliating for some heavy treatment he'd received earlier - but nothing justifies a challenge like that.

"The physio told me I was lucky and that had the tackle been straight on, my leg would have been broken."

The 30-year-old defender, Kilmarnock's second longest-serving star behind veteran captain Ray Montgomerie, has been one of several Killie players to hardly miss a game all season.

But he now faces a long and lonely fight back to fitness with a return to the first team by no means guaranteed at the end of it.

Such is the seriousness of the injury that MacPherson will now be forced to start his rehabilitation in the gym.

While the incident has left a sour taste for everyone connected with Kilmarnock Football Club, MacPherson insisted his respect for Larsson as a player is undiminished.

And he claimed he may still vote for the 27-goal Swede when it comes round to selecting the Players' Player of the Year.

He added: "On the night Larsson didn't even threaten our defence but he's had a fantastic season.

"I would say the award is between him and Rod Wallace, who has scored a tremendous number of goals.

"Henrik is completely different from a lot of the foreign stars who come here because he's a team player.

"That though says a lot for the Killie defence because he hasn't scored against us this season and he was kept reasonably quite on the night.

"It just disappoints me what happened and the fact I'm going to miss important games like the one against Dunfermline on Saturday and the TV match with Rangers the following week."

MacPherson and his defensive colleagues knew all about the danger Larsson carried before the game but were disappointed at suggestions that the striker could notch a third hat-trick in a row.

Killie have the best defensive record in the Premier League and MacPherson admitted the hype surrounding Larsson's attempt at a historic hat-trick of hat-tricks riled the Rugby Park stars.

MacPherson said: "It was a very important game for us at Parkhead and we were disappointed in what was being written and said before the match.

"Suggesting Larsson would get a hat-trick was disrespectful to us, especially as he hadn't scored against us before.

"The statistics also show we've got the best defence around and we haven't lost heavily to anyone this season.

"People saying they fancied him for another treble just fired the entire team up.

"We all knew what he's capable of but the team has to take a lot of credit for the fact we kept him quiet.

"The only time he threatened was when he was offside so Ray Montgomerie and Kevin McGowne can take a lot of credit for their performances."

In the event it was unsung Norwegian Vidar Riseth who scored the crucial goal in Celtic's 1-0 win and Killie have all but conceded that their title challenge is over.

They remain just two points behind the champions however and will fight determinedly to recapture the second place they had held for so much of this season.

MacPherson admitted: "We won't throw any towels in but it looks as if we've lost our chance of keeping pace with Rangers.

"They are ahead by a distance now and although we won't give up it looks as if we won't catch them.

"But we will be trying to get second place back from Celtic because that definitely is achieveable. I wouldn't write Celtic's title chances off though because they still have a crucial match with Rangers coming up at Parkhead.

"That match will have a huge say on whether they catch them or not."

Meanwhile, scorer Riseth admitted he will be only too happy to relinquish his temporary defensive role to Alan Stubbs as soon as possible because he reckons there is no better centre-half operating in Scotland.

He said: "I have played okay in central defence in the past couple of games but I hope Alan Stubbs is back soon because he is the best central defender in Scotland.

"Beyond that I feel Alan is now one of the best England have available to them as well."

In that clip of Henrik punching the guy in the stomach he mentions something about his wife in the interview as if the guy says something about her,I would have done the same thing. On 27 secs he says it, I might be wrong because hes talking in Swedish mind you.
