Celtic are working on a surprise move for Japanese defender Hayato Inamura.
Currently playing for Albirex Niigata the 23-year-old primarily plays as a left-sided centre-back but can also provide cover at left full-back.
Signed from Toyo University in 2021 six foot tall Inamura secured a J-League Cup runners-up medal last season, but currently finds himself locked in a relegation struggle in Niigata.
Celtic are no strangers to the Japanese market, signing the likes of Daizen Maeda, Kyogo Furuhashi, Reo Hatate, Tomoki Iwata and Yuki Kobayashi in the past.

Doesn’t fill you with confidence , if it’s lb cover then maybe but a team in the relegation zone in Japan is alarming if this is a cb /lb cover
in the video seems to be a lcb , decent range of passing but wouldn’t think he would be any better than scales or trustymartin_d likes this. -
Team have conceded 27 in 19 games so not as bad as a record as you would think for a team in 18th place

Looking into him he's only played about 25 games.
Seen more meat on a butchers pencil as well. This surely wouldn't be the only CB we bring in. If there's any truth to it.
The thought of Simon Murray or Dalby against a guy like this. Jaysus. -
Hes came through university system I think. Like Kyogo and Reo. Its very common in Japan. Not saying that makes him any good but it's probably why he hasn't played muchPeej and NakamuraTastic like this.

Aye I realise that. It's just not exactly the level of experience we need though.martin_d likes this. -
He seems very small for a centre back in our league, I know he has played as a left centre back but he almost profiles like he could be a decent left full back for us, good ball carrying and agressive passing stats, decent tackle win rate.
I don’t see how we could play him as a centre back in a back four here.
As mentioned last week I would be targeting a couple of players from the J League but I have never heard of this player before tonight. -
