MARK HATELEY was one of the few players capable of giving Tony Mowbray a battering on the pitch.
And yesterday Celtic's new boss suffered another knockout blow from the former Rangers striker.
On the same day Mogga was unveiled as the man to emulate Gordon Strachan's success, Hateley wound back the clock.
And pointed out he was nothing but a LOSER when he wore the green and white Hoops. He grinned: "Tony was a big honest player, one of those guys with no frills.
"You'd kick him, he'd kick you back. "I suppose you could say I did all right against Tony. I seem to remember scoring quite a few goals against him.
"If you're a Rangers fan you hope he's as successful as a manager as he was as a player. They'll be delighted if that's the case."
After four years at Parkhead, Mowbray left in 1995 having never won a medal.
Unlike the Rangers fans, the Celtic punters will be praying his record as a boss is considerably better.
Hateley knows his old foe will make the Hoops a treat to watch - but reckons the jury is out on whether Mowbray sacrifices style over substance.
He said: "Will Tony Mowbray be a good manager? Ask me that this time next year. "He's a guy who plays good attacking football, a style that Celtic have a tradition of playing.
"That's what he'll bring to the club, the same swashbuckling style he brought to Hibs.
"You saw what he did at West Brom as well. They played great football down there but it didn't get them the rewards they hoped for.
"Celtic fans won't stand for that, they want success. That expectation is one aspect of the managerial ladder Tony hasn't experienced yet.
"He's coming to a club where you have to win every game."
