We really can't know scottythetim. Remember he has come in and completely turned the players dressing room inside out. That takes time to work. It will take time for all the new players to learn about each other and get good knowledge of his training regime etc etc.
Remember in Alex Ferguson's first season as Manchester United manager he lost so many games and was apparently one game away from getting the boot. Need i say more.
When a manager has come in and completely revamped the squad he NEEDS time. There are no two ways about it. I have faith in the man and I would hope that if I went into a new job I would be given time to adapt and find my own ways of doing things and giving me time to sort out my plans. Just because he is a football manager doesn't mean he thinks and acts differently to rest of us when presented with a new challenge.
We see it time and time again a new manager going to a club and their results always pick up. Thats because there are the same group of players that were there before and the new manager sticks a rocket up their arses and pull their finger out. Tony doesn't have that. He has pretty much all his new purchases to work with and mould into what he thinks is good enough to play for Celtic.
The man knows what playing for Celtic is about.Last edited by a moderator: Mar 18, 2010 -

i'll ask a few questions how long was WGS in charge?
how many league titles did he win?
during those wins who was in charge of the other mob?
during that time did we not only have 1 manager?
and how many managers did the other mob go through during WGS stay to obtain success?
they tried 3 managers before getting any results as MAYBE money wouldn't allow them any more changes, now because of that they stuck by the manager as they MAYBE knew that stability is what was needed in such torid times and who is now 13 points to the good?
now WGS had a team of fighters or so it has been said and it's that team we are missing BUT did that team not lose the league aswell? did that very team of "fighters" not give up a comfertable lead to then lose it by a fair margin?. it's all maybes, ifs and buts, but who is to say if TM kept most of that team the same would only happen again and then the fans would be on TM's case for not buying better players in to try and claw away the league from rangers and that he should get the sack. it seems that some fans just can't be please with anything and only be happy if we one every game 10-0.
TM's plan is worth sticking by, if say he brough aload of scots bruisers in who would they have been and would they have been any real improvement on the current lot seriously would they have been? would they have been such an improvement we would have been the team sitting pretty at the top of the league? TM has turned this club upside down, inside out to try and work out the * has gone on here and he has brought in the players needed to get us back at the top but he found out he needed a whole new team and as i remember most fans were * off with the old sqaud and the only ones i think that weren't really getting it in the neck was Boruc and Robson now every one else is gone it's like *, i know they were * but i liked their * better then the other * we have now.
now the current crop haven't exactly done well either but they have done no better then what the previous lot would have been able to achieve this season but this team when playing well shows what it could do if together for another season and had a real chance to get together, some things just click like say big Ras and Keane but other things take time like the partnership of N'geumo and Crosas if TM is given the chance to keep as much of this team together as he can (bar the expections of say braffheid and keane as i doubt we can affod them in the end) this team will be ready to go for next season things will begin to click goals will come even more frequent, it won't be a bed of roses as we are bound to lose the odd game here and there but that is to be expected in life TM needs to stay and finish laying the foundations he is trying to put down with no help from the fans, if he goes who the * is gonna come in exactly?
TM is good enough to take celtic to the top of SPL he done fantastic for hibs and he * walked all over the championship but good old money was the difference between the championship to the EPL. TM has simply done whats needed alot * quicker then most would have if it were any one else it would have taking us a a good while to sort, all TM has done to alot of the dislike to the fans including myself is simply change the team for a new one straight away rather then making long work of it.
TM will come good next season if fans actually let him do whats needed we may not have liked the inital phase of it but jesus was it needed.
we may not win the season by 13 points next season but i have every faith we will win it next season TM has put together a good team bar the loans of Braff, Keane, Kamara and N'geumo but really the decline in money for the SPL has meant that those type of deals are the sometimes the best way to go around doing things if we sign N'geumo thats good i wouldn't worry for goals either as Ras will see to that.
let TM carry on the rebuilding block by block and it will come good.Last edited by a moderator: Mar 19, 2010 -
keeping him for next season is a huge risk, especially if we don't come away with any silverware and the shame get the treble

We also have to remember that to rebuild the scum Wally got 17mil in 1 transfer window. Now would our board be willing to release that kind of money when you look at the state they are in now?
Its pure fact that we are going to have to rely a lot on loan signings until we start to dominate again. I for 1 would like to give TM atleast next season. See who comes in during the summer. See how we perform next seson. Obviously it is still possible to get into the Champs League all be it very very difficult but not totally impossible.
Lets just keep the faith and Im sure he will come good.
Lets just say that we can still push them close this season. They could still drop some points and we could really win every game between now and the end of the season. Again unlikely but possible.
Faithful through and through -
any way if that were in his first season back it took him two season to win the league as he almost had to do what TM is trying to do by rebuild the squad from scratch.
to the other poster about keeping him is a risk, every manger has a element of risk to them MON was risky but not by much as he atleast some credible success in EPL, Wim was a risk, Barnes and Dalglish was risk WGS was big risk at the time as I thought his life as a manager was about as successful as Barnes.
getting in a new manager is a bigger risk then keeping TM as you don't know at all what the * he is going to do atleast with TM he's put a plan together bought in a few players he thought can do the job and next season look at buying 1 or 2 more to try and continue what he is trying to set.
there may well be an argument that if a new manager were to come in he would to stamp his own mark on things and just do another TM and reshuffle the squad with the whole 14 out 6-8 in that just wouln't help the squad at all what it needs now is a bit of stability by keeping the manager trying their best to sign up N'geumo as about the best we can afford for the role he does and continue to build the whole "transitional" period would only start again from the beginning and that won't help, going through 2 seasons without really knowing who's staying who's going and who's playing, we've had to go through it this season but it was needed and like i mention TM done it pretty quick rather then make long work of it and that will only help next season as builds a sqaud around the few he brought in that he thought were needed -
tm has a masterplan a master of disaster, from now untill end of season lets see how it goes,i worry tho

his masterplan idea is the main reason im sticking by him but the question is if were goin to see this big improvement how long will it take to get to that point , at celtic one thing you dont have alot of is time cause the fans are so fickle

To me, what he does this summer will be the deciding factor if he stays or if he goes.
He has overhauled the roster and filled it with young talent. (Thompson, Ki, Rogne, Hooiveld,) He needs to add more pieces this summer. He also needs to sort out which loan players are staying (Kamara, Keane, Braffhied, Nguemo), which players are leaving (Mcgeady, Brown, Boruc). Also, who he brings in to fill undermanned positions....
We will have a better idea in September if TM will survive here long term. -
This summer will be his 3rd transfer window and thats when he said he should be judged when he has his own team ,like Celtic Yank says wait till September ,October latest and then if we are still in trouble Tony Mowbray has got answers to give.

Where are the signs that TM will turn it around next season, loan signings will be gone young players wont be played as he will want to make more signings.
To be trailing 13 points is unacceptable, his only get out will be to win the scottish cup. -
I think he will be given his 3rd transfer window and a few months later he can and will be judged ,his own words basically.

Well done today boys.
Thought young Mcgowan played well, and Josh Thompson for a teenager looks to have great potential although we still need experience brought in the summer. I thought we cruised it today. nguemo solid again.
